| How We Will Address Cultural Diversity |
The Army is comprised of individuals from all over the world so cultural diversity is plentiful where we live. We simply need to step out of our front door to see people from all walks of life. It is wonderful to be surrounded by so many people of different cultures and backgrounds: neighbors; friends; teachers at school; employees at the shopping centers; doctors, nurses and physician¢ï¿½ï¿½s assistants that we see at the hospitals and clinics. Even though our daily life exposes a child to as many different people and cultures as you could hope, we still want to expand your child¢ï¿½ï¿½s knowledge of their own personal cultural background giving him or her a strong sense of identity and pride. From the beginning we will teach your child about their heritage through books, road trips to museums and cultural activities that will educate him or her about their roots. We are excited to help him or her learn about this beautiful world that surrounds them.
| Education We Will Provide |
Every Couple of Years We Attend a Military Formal. It's a Great Way to Meet New People!
Living on a military installation makes it easy to find a good school. The Department of Defense school system has been operating for more than 60 years. Their student graduation rate is 99% and in 2006 their graduates received over $34 million in scholarships. The school system uses the same curriculum world wide so the children are never behind when they have to change schools.
Paris is Taking Her Horse to the Arena for the Competition
Our daughter loves it when we move and she starts a new school only to find a friend from a previous school is there. We believe in sitting down with our children to do homework after school and rewarding them for a job well done. A college fund has been set up for our daughter and funds will be set up for a new baby that enters our family. Encouraging our children to go to college is a priority.
Extracurricular activities will also be encouraged not only to provide entertainment but also to gain experience and learn new skills.
Early Morning Jumps Are the Most Beautiful to Watch. Jeremy is in This Chinook Getting Ready to Fly Home
Our lifestyle is one of normalcy mixed with a little of the not so normal. While we get up every morning and get ready for our day of school, work and fun like many people, we get to do things and experience things that most people don't. For instance we do our grocery shopping at the commissary and instead of shopping at Wal-Mart; we shop at the PX. We spend a few Saturdays every year at the drop zone where we watch hundreds of soldiers jump out of airplanes or helicopters and parachute to the ground. The sounds of airplanes and helicopters are very normal around our house. It is also very normal to go anywhere on post and see A LOT of soldiers in uniform going about their day. The military has a strong sense of family and therefore provides a myriad of activities for children and families. The bonds we have built in the military are strong. It is a lifestyle we love and wouldn't trade for anything.
