We can't tell you enough how excited we are to bring another child into our family, and we're so thankful to you for checking out our profile and considering giving your child the gift of adoption. Being parents is the most important thing in the world to us, and we want more than anything to give your child not just loving parents, but a big sister, too! We both know that having someone to grow up with is priceless … can you picture them waiting up for Santa together? Because we've adopted before we know without a doubt that adoption is an incredible journey. Will you share it with us?

Our Family
In April of 2008 we adopted our daughter, Zoey. Our adoption journey was amazing! We were matched with her birthparents almost 3 months before she was due, and were able to travel to meet them and hang out a couple of times before she was born. The connection that we have with her birthparents is something that neither of us expected, and it's something that is so, so important to both of us.
Zoey's Adoption Finalization Day
We couldn't love Zoey any more than we do, and we not only became parents through our adoption journey, we also learned so much about ourselves. We found strength and courage, and the deepest well of the most pure kind of love there is. Neither of us can imagine what life would be like without her and her birthfamily. We're so lucky to have continued contact with Zoey's birthmom, and always look forward to hearing from her. Zoey's birthfather is a little more shy, but we have ongoing contact with his mom. We consider all of them a part of our family, and our hearts are tied together forever through this incredible little girl!
We believe that celebrating our cultural diversity as a family is so important! We want to make sure that our children learn about their cultural backgrounds, and that we incorporate history, traditions and celebrations into our daily lives. (our daughter has some Hawaiian ancestry ... a good reason for a trip there!) We're already educating ourselves about raising multiracial children and want to do everything we can to help both of our kids become strong, self-aware, self-confident individuals who can face any situation that's thrown their way. We live in the suburbs, but are close to St. Louis, which is a very diverse area that offers a lot in the way of culture-based festivals, museums, and so much more. Both of our families are so excited about this baby and about finding new ways to help us celebrate the baby's cultural heritage both at home and around town. They can't wait to welcome this baby into our family!
Sunset at Table Rock Lake Where We Visit Several Times a Year
We have several favorite family traditions. The first is Thanksgiving. I (Tracy) have been going to Table Rock Lake to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving since I was 14. We always drive down the night before and stay for the long weekend. It's just not Thanksgiving unless we go to the lake and have turkey and stuffing and broccoli casserole and pumpkin pie and then all play board games afterward (after a nap, of course!). We usually end up going to Branson for the after Thanksgiving sales and to take our twin goddaughters Grace and Matilda to a Christmas show. It's a special time that means so much to both of us, and it's so much fun. We look forward to it all year!
Visiting Branson at Christmastime
The second family tradition we started a few years ago when we began trying to have a family. We decided that we'd like to make hot chocolate and cuddle up on the couch in our pajamas on Christmas Eve and read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" before bed. We usually stay in Missouri for Christmas (sometimes we get together with Rob's family before Christmas to celebrate, sometimes after) because we feel it will be important for our kids to have Christmas at home. |
