How We Met

We met our sophomore year in college when Jeff's short-lived rock band started practicing in Llori's basement. Jeff and his band mates (one of whom was dating one of Llori's roommates) talked their way into using the space a couple times a week. It was clear at the onset that Llori wasn't too keen on the idea of blaring guitars and drums disrupting her peace and quiet. Despite Llori's reluctance to band practice, we became good friends. We realized that we had a lot of common interests and really enjoyed each other's sense of humor. In the end, the band only lasted a few months.... and Llori had her peace and quiet back.

How We'll Address Cultural Diversity

Sofia and Her Cousins

As a trans-racial couple, cultural diversity is very important to us. We have a diverse set of family and friends. We understand the importance of embracing and celebrating our diverse backgrounds, and will continue to make it a priority in our family.

In our daily lives, we seek out diversity. We live in a metropolitan area with a wide array of cultural events that we actively participate in. The diversity of our community played a large role in our decision to move here. We also chose to live in a school district that not only provided a great education, but also offered a range of backgrounds and heritages.

We prefer to adopt a child that reflects the diversity of our family. Should we have the opportunity to adopt a child of a different race, we will take every step to ensure that he/she maintains a strong sense of their heritage. We will raise our child to be confident and proud.

Our Lifestyle

Taking in Hawaii

Spending time with family is our top priority. We both have a strong work ethic, but believe it is important to leave work behind when we are with our family. In the evening we like to cook, play games (Go Fish is our current favorite), and read books.

Hanging Out with Our Dog Sammy

We also enjoy visiting with friends, eating at restaurants, playing at the park, visiting museums, and family runs (Sofia loves riding in the jog stroller!). Family trips are something we always look forward to. This year, we spent a week having fun and relaxing at the beach in Florida.
