Our Family Traditions

Getting Together with Family and Friends

Every Year we go to Sue's parents in Florida the first week in December to celebrate Thanksgiving & Christmas with them. Then we return to have a Christmas Round Robin with our work family, where we go to three houses to get to see everyone we don't get to see very often. Then we celebrate Christmas on a mutual day getting together with John's family, where we celebrate the Hispanic culture. We eat Hispanic food (Chicken Mole, Chimichangas, Tamales, refried beans & many more) that Yvonne (John's Mom) takes a week to prepare. Everyone wants to be invited over. We always include anyone who wants to come. No one needs to spend the holidays alone. We always put up two trees every year, one downstairs, which is decorated with all police ornaments. The tree upstairs is decorated with more traditional Christmas ornaments. We decorate for all the holidays. We are excited to start new traditions with our new addition to the family.

We always have a summer party to get together with family & friends. Our family is extensive, including our coworkers, spouses and their children. We grill out while everyone brings their favorite side dishes. The kids play while the parents talk & catch up.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

A Romantic Sunset in Mexico

About Sue by John: I want to start off by saying that ever since I met Sue, I have loved her smile. When you look at herand she smiles, there is nothing like it. It will instantly make you happy, no matter what mood you are in. She is also sincerely one of the NICEST people you will ever meet. She does not have a mean bone in her body! I respect her because she is honest, but with a hint of sweetness. Our relationship is the easiest I have ever been in because we talk to each other, not at one another. I admire that she is a strong, hard working, independent, confident woman! She will make the most incredible mother and there is no other woman I would want to share this experience with.

About John by Sue: I would like to say that I love how when John smiles, his eyes disappear. He has the most inviting smile, everyone we know just wants to hug him when he enters the room. I have to admit, I love when he sings his made up, silly rhyming songs to me and our cats. I admire what a respectful gentleman he has grown into thanks to his Mother's discipline. Everyone wants to be his friend and confide their secrets to him. He is honest while being respectful of others feeling. He is a strong man while being a softie. I respect how he is a hard working, loving and protective husband. He is willing to do anything to protect and help his family or friends. I am thankful for our relationship, John was definitely worth the wait. I always say, "thank God for unanswered prayers."

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

One of Our Favorite Vacations
Florida is our favorite vacation spot. Since we visit Sue's parents once a year, we have had the opportunity to visit many places in the state. Last year, Sue's folks took us on a tour of the state for Christmas. We took a dinner cruise through "Millionaire's row," which was incredible. They also took us to Silver Springs, where we saw many animals, alligators, pelicans, lions, snakes, spiders, birds, etc. We rode in a glass bottom boat which allowed us to see all types of marine life, it was fantastic. We also visited the beautiful Sanibel Island. We are both still kids at heart, so Orlando is a place we will visit for years to come. Trips to Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World will always be a part of our life. We hope to take our child(ren) there some day.
