Randy & Cady

Thank you for taking the time to review our profile and considering us in making the most important decision in your life. We have taken a lot of time and made many efforts to become a mother and father. After going down the path for infertility treatment, we recognized that our goal was not only to become pregnant, but to become parents. For both of us, parenting is the most important job adults can have, and we are prepared to go as far as we must to find a child and love them as his/her mom and dad. In that light adoption is the best choice for us, and becoming parents to your child is our grandest dream. By giving us the opportunity to love and cherish your child, you will be providing the most incredible gift we can imagine.

Our Leisure Time

Ready to Go Out on the Town!
In our much valued free time, we try to spend as much time as possible with families and friends as well as making sure we take the time to do things as a couple. Over the years, Randy has shared with Cady his love of cooking as well as the fun of cooking classes. We have tried out our favorite learned dishes on our family. One of Randy's closest friends who he met years ago in Germany while doing his dissertation research lives only a few blocks away. We spend many Saturday nights with him, his wife and adopted son. We live in a neighborhood that houses many restaurants, almost all of which are child friendly. Many times the two of us walk to our dinner date. We love art and have spent many weekends looking at the various art galleries that are in Washington, D.C. With Cady's brother's children nearby, many Saturday mornings are at swim meets or soccer games to show our support for them. As your child gets older, we picture your child helping us cook our meals and create his/her own specialty dish. Cady will pass on her secret recipe for homemade macaroni and cheese and Randy will pass on his mother's famous roast lamb. We hope that he/she will add his/her own twist to the dishes and pass them on to many generations to come. We also can't wait to show him/her the beauty of the city we live so near. Washington, D.C. has so many cultural events and museums that will enrich his/her life. We also look forward to cheering on your child on the soccer field or in swimming pool with his many local cousins. We plan to travel to internationally to visit relatives in Toronto and Greece and other historical cities around the world.

What Made Us Who We Are Today

When asked what makes us what we are today, we can both answer that the life experiences our parents gave us from the time we were children through today. Cady was raised in a very athletic family. Her childhood was spent on many types of playing fields - from baseball to soccer to tennis courts to swimming pools to tracks and to cross country courses. She was taught how to excel not only as a team player but as an individual. Some of her best memories revolve around the practices for the various sports and the lifelong friendships forged with her teammates. The different sports allowed her to travel and see different areas of our vast country.

Cady's parents also focused on education - not just the type learned in school. Dinner time was always at 7 p.m. and was rarely missed by anyone. At a young age, she and her 3 siblings had dinner quiz events. Some years it was naming the different countries in the Caribbean or in the Red Sea or Persian Gulf. Many dinners had the globe brought to the table to determine who was right. Others it was who brought the most interesting current event to dinner. One year, all the kids had to choose a company and follow its price fluctuations. At the end of the year, the one with the greatest profit was rewarded with a 5th Avenue candy bar.

Randy's family also put a lot of emphasis on education, although when he was young his parents worried that he didn't like it very much. Luckily he surprised them, and himself, by staying in school, learning German, and eventually teaching at two nearby colleges. Randy's parents wanted him to do something he could be good at. Once Randy found what he liked, and even though he had to leave Canada to do it, they supported the choice in every possible way. Their strong sense of family, always with a sense of humor, made going home to Toronto very special for Randy, his sister and now for Cady.

We hope to raise a child in a similar fashion as our parents raised us. We plan to expose him/her to both athletics and education starting at a young age. We look forward to spending our many weekends at our local park or playing in our backyard. There are so many places in the world we cannot wait to share from the Atlantis in Bahamas (a giant amusement park disguised as a hotel) to the Grand Canyon to Disney Land.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

We feel like we complement each other quite well. Randy brings his love of the arts and culture to the family. Cady brings her love of sports and her competitive spirit. Randy is one of the most patient individuals one could ever encounter and Cady has boundless energy. Together we make a great team who will adore raising a child.
