A Sunny Day In Our Backyard
Adoption has become near to our hearts through friends and neighbors who chose adoption as the way to grow their families. The month after Carson was born our neighbors brought home a beautiful baby girl, their third adopted child. She and Carson have become great friends over the last six years--playing together all the time. In fact there are several adopted children in our neighborhood! Other close friends adopted three children after having a biological child. The bond they share together as a family is truly heart warming.
We have seen adoption build incredible families. Creating our own family adoption story is a journey we are thrilled to begin!
Mom and Carson Relaxing in the Hammock
We spend as much time enjoying the outdoors as we can. During the summer we camp with Brian's cousins and their families. Carson absolutely loves his second cousins who play together with non-stop! From making s'mores, to catching frogs, to playing Bingo, our camping trips are full of activity!
Relaxing on the river on our pontoon is summertime at its best. It's especially fun to pack a picnic and go boating with family or friends. Our boat is filled with enough sand toys for everyone!
Brian and Jeanne cheering on the Steelers!
Jeanne enjoys baking and can often be found whipping up a batch of monster cookies or taking banana bread from the oven. She likes making goodies (with Carson's help stirring and adding ingredients) to share with neighbors. She also has developed a passion for arranging fresh flowers to brighten our home. Brian is a wonderful cook and likes dabble in the kitchen for our dinner as a family each evening. Grilled steak, savory baby back ribs, and fish prepared with a Hawaiian flare are his favorite to make. He also keeps the yard looking good, is an avid football fan (Go Steelers), and bowls on a weekly league.
Occasionally, we get the evening out, just the two of us. Going to the movies, out for a romantic dinner, or taking a drive in our convertible is the perfect "date night"!
Celebrating Grandmas' Birthday at Auntie's Home
We can usually find any reason to celebrate and the holidays are no exception! Since our families live close, we get together with both for most holidays.
It's tradition to watch the parade on the Fourth of July. Marching bands, horses, floats, and tons of candy make the parade great for kids. After the parade we take in a huge family picnic complete with water balloons! Later we join our friends and their children for a colorful fireworks show.
Pumpkin carving near Halloween has become a fun tradition with Jeanne's family. Everyone brings a special appetizer to her aunt's home for a friendly pumpkin carving competition. There is a lot of giggling while we clean the pumpkins and try to guess what each jack-o'- lantern will look like! When everyone's finished we take the pumpkins outside and light them for the "grand finale".
From baking cookies to decorating the house, we really get into the Christmas season. The weekend after Thanksgiving we put up the Christmas tree and trim it with special ornaments. The three of us watch Polar Express together with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate. Christmas Eve we attend an amazing children's mass at our church. Then on Christmas morning we wake up early to see if Santa has been to our house. Stocking for Carson, Copper (our chocolate lab), Dad, and Mom are always brimming with gifts!
Since most of our friends have children we get together for New Years Eve as families. Complete with kid's champagne and a countdown, it's a great way to ring in each New Year!
We cannot wait to share the love of the seasons with your baby!
