We wish to add a child's laughter and smile to our home, and are excited to have the opportunity to adopt. We have friends and family that are adopted, and their stories have helped us decide that adoption is the right choice for us. We would be grateful if we are the couple you see as the parents of your child.

| What Takes Priority In Our Lives |
Enjoying a Few Moments Alone on the Lake During a Family Vacation
Family has always been our highest priority. We decided to come to the university where we work because it is a good, competitive school, but one that allows us to work fairly normal hours so that we have lots of time to spend together. We are also able to travel to spend time with our families--we end up spending a lot of our travel time seeing family and friends. We have many close friends that live in different places and we make sure to see them a few times a year. Many of our close friends have had children in recent years and we've made trips to see them and to meet their children. We anticipate that our home will be very busy in the months after the arrival of the child with all our friends wanting to meet him or her!
In recent months we've made sure that our lives are sufficiently flexible that we can take plenty of time off of work in the early months after the child is born. And we hope to have family members caring for the child when we first return to work. Throughout his or her life, we know that the child will be our highest priority and we will always consider him or her in our decisions regarding our careers, where we live, and how we spend our time.
Elli and Sprite Mesmerized by the Ceiling Fan
We both grew up in households with lots of pets and have both had especially fond feelings for cats. We have three cats--Sam, Elli, and Sprite. Sam is a 15 year-old orange cat and a total love-bug. Kids love him because he is so laid back that they can tug and pet him vigorously and he never minds--he just loves the attention! Sam has arthritis and gets shots frequently to keep him comfortable. He hasn't ever seemed to mind that--again, he gets lots of attention after the shot. Elli is 7 years old. She is all white and knows that she is an adorable cat. She also enjoys affection and tends to puff her fur out when she is being petted. We brought her home from the humane society when she was about 8 weeks old. She was malnourished and had to be bottled fed for a while. She has always had a preference for Ryan and purrs loudly when he is around. She can often be found on his lap enjoying his petting. Our youngest cat is Sprite. Sprite is 3 years old and has tiger stripes. She waits for us to come out of our room before she eats her breakfast (dry food that was there all night) and tends to start meowing loudly outside of our room in the morning as soon as the first alarm sounds. She'll often wake us up on the weekends with her insistence that we hurry up and come out!
Quick Getaway to Ski in Colorado
We have lots of friends in our community that we hang out with. We've been lucky to make friendships that are laid back and casual, so we often end up making last minute plans for dinner, game night or watching television shows with our friends. The last time we had a large group of friends over we made a nice dinner for the adults and baked a pizza for the kids. Eventually all the kids cuddled up in the living room and watched the Disney movie Cars while the adults sat at the table talking. Ryan loves to cook nice meals for our friends, while I love to bake. This combination is great for us--we spend lots of hours in the kitchen and then get to eat whatever we've created!
Decorating a Ladybug Cake for a Birthday Party
We enjoy spending time together and enjoying activities that the other originally liked most. We love to ride our bikes, play disc golf, watch NASCAR, attend sporting events at our university, water ski, snow ski, and travel. Last winter we spent spring break in Oregon with Ryan's family skiing at Mount Bachelor. We look forward to teaching the child to ski and spending our days watching him or her go whizzing down the hills fearlessly, as many little kids tend to do!
