Why We Chose Adoption

We're Engaged

From the moment we started dating, we knew we wanted to be parents. It has been our lifelong dream to have a family and share the title of mommy and daddy. We have spent the past several years trying to conceive a baby and discovered that we are infertile. Our strong desire to become parents has led us to the path of adoption. We feel adoption is the best way to fulfill our hopes and dreams of having a family.

We feel it is very important that your child know where he or she came from. We are prepared to be open and honest about your child's first family and give them the information they need to satisfy their natural curiosity about their birth parents. At age appropriate times, we will read children's books about adoption, look at pictures, and have discussions about how our family was started. We know that as your child grows up, he or she is going to have questions about their roots and wonder about their identity. We promise to always share stories about how your child was brought to us and emphasize how special they are to our family and yours. Most importantly, we will always make sure your child knows you made this difficult decision out of love.

Cultural Diversity

Baptism of Angie's Nephew
As a couple, we are very open to adopting a transracial child. We realize the importance of connecting with one's heritage and ethnic background. Exposure to role models of the same race will be important for your child, and we will make sure they have these opportunities. We will always have open discussions about the similarities and differences of those around us. In our home we will love a child with all our hearts regardless of skin color, hair color or any of the little things that make each of us unique and special. We are honest enough to admit that it does make a difference for some people in society. We promise to always help your child to work through all of the issues that may arise during their life. We recognize this is a process, and we will all continue to learn the best ways to handle any situations related to diversity.

Education

Adopting Our First Pet!
Because Angie is a teacher, we feel we will be able to provide your child with exceptional educational experiences. Reading will be a daily shared activity, and we have already started a library in the baby's nursery. From the first day we arrive home, we will be reading children's books to your child. When it is time for preschool, we will be sending your child to an early childhood education center known nationwide for providing a multitude of hands on learning experiences. We will be able to send your child to Angie's school district for a K-12 education in top rated schools. In our home, we will always emphasize the importance and value of education.
