Our Adoption Story
Goofing Around at Disneyland

We always knew we wanted to be parents. We cannot remember a time when we didn't talk about starting a family and sharing our lives and love with children. We have several friends and family members whose lives were changed forever through adoption and after several years of unsuccessful fertility treatments we couldn't wait to begin the adoption process.

Maggie and Mommy

Our lives were changed forever in February 2009 when we received the most anticipated and wonderful phone call of our lives from American Adoptions. Our daughter Maggie had been born, and at last our dreams came true, we were parents!! We met Maggie's birthmother, whom we adore, and feel immense respect and gratitude for the greatest gift anyone could ever give. We are forever grateful to her and continue to remain in touch with her through e-mails and pictures.

Maggie is truly the love of our lives. Each day we are reminded how blessed we are to have her in our lives. We can't wait to hold her in our arms when she wakes up in the morning and gives us a big smile and giggles. She lights up our day when she babbles Ma-Ma or Da-Da and laughs when we sing silly songs or play peek-a-boo with her. Our lives couldn't be happier and we feel like the luckiest people in the world to have her as our daughter.

Adoption has been such a wonderful and positive experience for us and we had no idea how much love a child could bring into our lives. We can't wait for Maggie to have a brother or sister and to watch them play together, grow up together and become best friends. We plan to discuss adoption openly to Maggie and your child, and share how we became a family.

How We Met and Things We Like to Do
Red Rock Canyon

Our story began 7 years ago, when Bill's sister Jeanne introduced us. Kathleen and Jeanne previously worked together in a hospital and remained friends over the years. Jeanne had a feeling that we would make a great match as our families and our lives were so similar. And she was right!!! We met for dinner and really felt like we had known each other for years. We have been married for over 5 years and we have grown to love each other more with every year we have been married.

We have a lot in common and enjoy many outdoor activities together. Bill loves fishing, boating, hiking and tackling home improvement projects. Kathleen enjoys photography, gardening, snorkeling, and hiking. Bill's parents have a summer home at the beach and we enjoy spending many weekends there with family. We also enjoy working in the yard and going to the movies. Now that we are parents, we love to spend all of our time with our daughter Maggie. We enjoy getting down on the floor to play with her, reading books, singing songs, taking long walks in the stroller around our lake, and hiking in our local state parks. Our favorite activity to do together is traveling. We are fortunate to have traveled to many wonderful places, including cruising around Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean, hiking in Nevada and Arizona, exploring Europe, and snorkeling and relaxing on white sandy beaches in Bermuda and St. Maarten. We can't wait to share more traveling adventures with your child and experience the joy of new places through their eyes. We envision a day when we would take your child to Disney World to experience the magic of Disney together as a family.

Our Dog, Derry
Maggie and Derry

Our dog's name is Derry, she is 5 1/2 years old and she's an important part of our family. We chose her name after visiting a city in Ireland which we fell in love with and thought it was a fitting name for her since she is an Irish Terrier. She is energetic and playful and loves to be the center of attention. She is very good and gentle with children and loves to be around Maggie. Not only is she a part of our family but our extended family as well. Both of our families, especially our nephews and niece, love to come over to our house to play with her in the backyard. In the summer, we spend many weekends at Bill's parents beach house and Derry can't wait to get there. She loves to dig in the sand, play fetch with a ball and go for walks by the bay.
