When we are not visiting with family and friends we like to do a lot of different things. We both like to work outside, with Jeff handling the landscaping and Kelly tending to her assortment of tomatoes, peppers and herbs. We like to watch movies together on rainy days and when the sun is out we enjoy taking walks through the parks and reservations in the area.
Kelly is a phenomenal cook and will often be found making something amazing (her lemon bars are to die for!), or doing something "crafty." Jeff can usually be found doing one of two things; taking pictures or reading a book. He is determined to build a personal library one book at a time, and he has made a good start on it.
We look forward to the days when we can share these passions with a child by entrusting them with our closely guarded secret family recipes, and teaching them about the magic that can be found hidden in-between the covers of a book.
Kelly has an amazing mind and ability to see the "Big Picture". Combine that with her strength of character, and the courage of her convictions to always do what she feels is right, and what you get is a role model that any kid would be lucky to have. Oh and on top of that, when she laughs it seems like there is nothing wrong in the world.
Jeff can always find a silver lining and a reason to laugh. While decidedly not the "big picture" thinker he has the ability to remember the weirdest facts and tidbits that you could ever imagine... sometimes they even come in useful. Jeff will always be the first person to sign up for helping a friend tear out a kitchen, or move apartments.
We have a few family traditions. The Memorial Day BBQ is always at our house, Christmas eve dinner is always eaten by candlelight only (and is always at Kelly's parent's house) and is followed by the opening of the stockings before going to bed. On Easter we have a tradition where we cut hardboiled eggs in half and each person eats their half. The legend has it that if you get lost anytime between then and next Easter, the person who ate the other half of your egg will find you! None of us are sure how that got started or if it works, but it couldn't hurt!
