Lisa: We are both blessed to have such wonderful families. I have a very close relationship with my dad and stepmom, brothers, sister, nieces and nephew. Fortunately, they all live within 30 minutes of our home. I am close to many of my aunts, uncles and cousins as well. Any occasion is a chance to get together with each other. We spend birthdays, holidays and many vacations together. Each year in April, my dad rents a house on Sanibel Island in Florida. He sends all of us down for at least a week to spend together. We stay right on the beach and spend our time swimming, biking and simply relaxing together. In addition, we have a summer home on a lake in New Hampshire. Since Ron and I have summers off, we spend a lot of time at the lake with family.
Madison with Her Cousins at the Beach
Ron: I have a very close relationship with my mother, father, and brother. I get to see my parents weekly. My parents live only 45 minutes from us. My parents often visit to look after my daughter while my wife and I are at work. Fortunately both our parents are retired. I have one brother, six years older than me. He has a wife and two sons. I see my nephews quite often. I often visit to watch them play high school sports. My brother's family lives only about one hour away from us. I loved spending time with my grandparents growing up, but they've all passed on. I miss them very much. I get to spend some time in the summers with my cousins and aunts while vacationing in Maine.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. Our town is a wonderful place to raise a family! There are 4 outstanding elementary schools, two middle schools and a High School in our town. We are also fortunate to have a public preschool in the school Lisa teaches in. Currently, our daughter Madison is attending the preschool 3 days a week. The sports programs in town are excellent, as well as the community events and activities. We attend the parades and fairs frequently. The fourth of July celebration is one of our favorite town events. Friends and family come to our home for a cookout then, we all walk downtown for the parade, music and amazing fire works display!
Our Playroom
Our home is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom Antique Colonial. We have a large kitchen/family room, a living room, dining room, office and playroom. Much of our time is spent on our deck or in the backyard. Our neighborhood consists of a diverse group of families, some have children close to Madison's age. Within walking distance of our home is the center of town, which includes; restaurants, stores, a library, playground (where we spend a great deal of time) and a town pool. The commuter rail (train) leaves right from the center of town and goes into Boston in less than 30 minutes. We enjoy taking train rides to the city to visit family, have dinner or visit one of the many museums in Boston.
