Patrick is one of four children. His parents have been married for almost 50 years. His father has just retired from a long career in banking. His mother was a stay at home mom who ran her own flower business for many years. He has three sisters who are each married. Their
families are living up and down the East Coast in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Massachusetts. There are 6 nieces and nephews that range in age from 1 to 24. Each summer the family gathers in North Carolina at the beach for a week of relaxation and fun in the sun. We also spend Thanksgiving and Easter celebrating and giving thanks together. Sunday dinners are very common, considering Pat's parents live less than a half hour away and his mom is an excellent cook!
Alyssa’s Family at Patrick’s Birthday Party!
Alyssa is the youngest of five girls. Her mom is a retired storeowner and is now able to travel and relax after raising such wonderful girls by herself! She is an inspiration! All of the girls are married and live within an hour and ½ of each other. The families get together often for birthday dinners, board game nights and kids’ sporting events. There are 7 nieces and nephews from 3 weeks to 13 years old. We are godparents to three of the children and spend as much time as we can with them! Alyssa is fortunate to work from home in a business with two of her sisters. They keep informed on a daily basis with regards to family and work issues. The families share vacations a few times a year at beach homes in Maryland and Virginia. Christmas morning is always spent with Alyssa's family. We go to church, eat a special family breakfast and then dig into the presents left by Santa and his elves!
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in a lovely historic waterfront community. We are within walking distance to many shops and restaurants as well as museums, libraries, ballparks and churches. Just a few blocks from home is a huge park with a lake, a playground, a pool and tennis courts. There are ball fields and walking paths too. We enjoy outdoor concerts here every summer.
Our home is beautiful and dates back to the late 1800's. Together we have renovated it from top to bottom, including the walls, floors and ceilings! Pat's carpentry skills are out of this world! It also has a wonderful screen porch off the kitchen and lovely gardens with stone paths.
Our Pier on the River
We have several close friends on our block and try to plan dinner parties each month. So many of our neighbors are married and starting families too. There are lots of other children to play with! We also try to help our elderly neighbors with snow shoveling and other household projects. They are a wonderful part of our community and love to be a part of our lives! We feel blessed to be part of such a close-knit community!
We have a group of friends in the neighborhood that run together. We keep track of neighborhood activities and exercise at the same time! We've run quite a few 5K races and are considering a triathlon!
