We currently reside in Alabama. Matt was born and raised in Alabama, and Jana's family, originally from Mississippi, moved here when she was six years old.
We live in a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, brick home in a large gated community. Our home has a fenced-in backyard and a nice-sized patio that’s perfect for summer barbecues. Our subdivision is home to one of the nicest golf courses in Alabama. We love walking our dogs down the scenic trails that are located throughout the subdivision. We have access to a clubhouse, tennis courts, and a large swimming pool. Matt’s parents and his brother’s family live in the same neighborhood, so we always have family close by. Our home is only fifteen minutes from our jobs and ten minutes from the nearest supermarket, shopping center, pharmacy, and fast food restaurant.
We both work in town. Our offices are only two blocks from each other's. The daycare we have chosen is only one block from both of our offices. It has been highly recommended by our coworkers, who utilize the facility for their own children.
There are many perks to living in a small southern town, including community-wide, social activities that go on throughout the year. We truly love where we live.
Matt 's immediate family consists of his mom and dad (better known as "Nana and Grandpa"), his brother and sister-in-law, and their two children. Matt's mother has four sisters and one brother. Matt and Jana get together with Matt's extended family almost every holiday. They also see "Grandpa's" step-mother and half-sister's family every Christmas.
Jana's immediate family includes her mom (better known as "Mimi"), her sister and brother-in-law, and their son. Jana's grandparents ("Mawmaw and Pawpaw") also live close by and play a vital role in her family. Jana's dad (who passed away when she was young) had five brothers, and they still see them and their families every Thanksgiving. "Mimi" has one sister (married with one son) that they see frequently throughout the year, including Christmas, which they spend at "Mawmaw and Pawpaw's" house.
Matt and Jana's immediate families live very close to them, and they see them nearly every week. They like to have family dinners at least once a month. At special family gatherings, they like to play cards, board games, do puzzles, watch old movies, relive old stories, and play with the kids.
