Our Extended Families

Jamie and Her Cousins Tyler, Morgan and Rachel

Both of our families (and friends and neighbors) are so excited by our plans to adopt again. Every week or so, someone asks, 'So, how are the plans going?' They are so thrilled to welcome a new baby into our lives to care for and love.

Our Family and Cousins Emma and Noah

Henry’s parents recently moved to an active adult community not far from our home. They live in a beautiful ranch house with one room set up for us and one room for their grandchildren. They love to travel (their favorite spot is Aruba, where we sent them for their 40th wedding anniversary) and especially love taking their grandchildren to the beach. Henry has a younger sister named Melissa. Melissa, her husband Todd and their three children Rachel, Morgan and Tyler used to live nearby. Just this summer, they moved to California for Todd's job. It was really hard on all of us and we're still adjusting to the fact that they are no longer a short car drive away. The good news is that they have already visited us twice and we're spending a week at their home over Christmas. We are also planning a family vacation with them in the spring.

Ami’s parents have been happily married for 41 years. She has a younger brother named David who also lives nearby with his wife, Anne, and children, Noah and Emma. During the winter, her parents travel often (her dad is an awesome golfer and her mom bikes, hikes and does yoga) but during the summer, we spend much of the summer all together at Ami's parent's beach house. Summer mornings start with bike rides to the local playground; afternoons are filled with playing in the ocean, building sand castles, and collecting shells; and our nights always include a yummy bar-b-cue dinner and an evening walk to get some homemade ice cream or a trip to a local amusement park. The eight weeks of summer go by quickly but we are making priceless memories with each passing day.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

When we moved into our townhouse six years ago, we never imagined we would become so close with our neighbors. We live across the street from our best friends, Sean and Shari, and their three young children (Meredith, Ethan and Sam). Sean and Shari are Jamie's godparents and we see them or talk to them just about every day. Almost every couple on our block has 1-2 young children of their own. Throughout the year, we often have bar-b-cues with our neighbors and we meet at the pool and park for play time with the kids.

We live in a three bedroom, two and ˝ bathroom home that is decorated in warm colors with oversized furniture great for cuddling up on. Our home has a kitchen, dining room, living room, family room and a large finished basement, which used to be an extra den for us, but is now a fully loaded playroom with a slide, tunnels, tents and tons of toys!

Our community is a safe and inviting place for all who live here. We spend a good deal of time at our community pool which also has a terrific kiddy pool. All the families bring water toys and everyone plays together. It's a great way for the kids to get to know each other and the parents too! We also have baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and walking and bike paths on every street. The mornings and early evenings are prime walking, running, and dog walking hours and the paths are busy. Overall, it's a pretty healthy community. In addition, we are in walking distance of an award winning elementary school and a very short drive away from a large YMCA and several libraries (we take classes on a regular basis - swimming at the Y and music & movement and story time at the library), as well as two new parks with great playgrounds for kids.

Our town takes great pride in the family events it sponsors throughout the year. We never miss the Fall Fest, the Horse Show, and the amazing fireworks display on July 4th.
