Our Extended Families

Christmas with Our Family

Most of Jeff’s family lives within one and a half hours of our home. His mom, dad and brother live in a neighboring state. We usually see his mom and dad every other weekend and talk to them on the phone quite often. His brother Kevin recently married Kelly and they work odd hours, making it more difficult to get together, but we manage whenever possible. His sister Stacy lives in another state and we see her on all major holidays. We talk on the phone often. He has a grandmother in another state, and we see her on holidays. His other grandmother, aunts, and uncles live in Kentucky. We all look forward to gatherings at both Thanksgiving and Christmas in which everyone attends.

Thanksgiving with Our Family

Most of Jeanne’s family lives across the country. Her brother, Alex is married to Sandy and they have four children. Her sisters, Sabine and Pat, live in the same state as her brother, but at the other end of the state. Sabine is married to Dan and they are busy working on their home. Her older sister Pat, has a daughter Samantha who has two children. Pat has adopted one child Kristina and is in the process of adopting another little girl. She is also planning on moving to Kentucky. Jeanne's mom and dad just moved to Kentucky and are now living in the same town as we are. We are very excited about this move and love having them close by. We see them quite often. It will be great to have both sets of grandparents close by to spend time with the baby.

After talking to our families about our adoption plans, both of our families are very excited and looking forward to the day we bring the baby home.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We built our house in 2005 with family in mind. We designed our own floor plan taking parts of many other homes we looked at. We have three bedrooms, a large family room, a kitchen with eating area for family dinners, a study for homework and a large basement for playtime. The outside walls are insulated concrete form, making the entire house a safe place during a storm. We look forward to raising children in this home and becoming a family.

Going on a Family Drive in Our Mustang

We are located in a community that has small town charm but is close to city shopping. Our school system is also rated one of the top in the state of Kentucky. Our neighborhood is new, but we are already developing traditions like our 4th of July fireworks show and our Christmas holiday breakfast. We have to set aside extra time, during summer walks with the dog, to stop and talk as we walk past each of the houses. There is a mixture of families from those with newborns to others who are retired. We chose to build in our neighborhood because it adjoins a golf course and is also close to the county park which has a walking loop, playground, softball fields, and soccer fields. All of the fields are full of children, during the summer, that play in the various sports leagues. Our lot backs up to the third green on the golf course. Groups of children frequently play the course, and we intend to spend family time there in the future. The area is safe, crime free, and offers many activities for children both young and old.
