Abigail is the oldest of six with three younger sisters and two younger brothers. The oldest sister will be having a baby cousin very soon. Aidan and Erik are helping plan the festivities to celebrate baby cousin's arrival. One other brother and sister are pursuing masters degrees and the youngest brother is still in college. The youngest sister is following in Kurt's footsteps and has her first job in electrical engineering. Abigail is very close to all of them, doing a great deal of mentoring along the way. All of Abigail's brothers and sisters were groomsmen and bridesmaids in our wedding.
Abigail's mother is an artist and a piano teacher. She is very involved in her children's' lives. She only lives an hour away. She also has a summerhouse on a lake where all of the extended family and children stay. There is a lot of cooking, hiking and camping for all to enjoy.
Family Time
Abigail's father is a professor of music theory. He lives about six hours away but comes to visit, at least, three times a year. He has enjoyed his grandchildren so much that he has been coming to visit more frequently and is considering a summer home closer to our home.
All of Abigail's family is very excited about our decision to adopt a third child. With this many aunts, uncles and grandparents, there will be no shortage of love!
Kurt’s mother is a bookkeeper. She and Kurt's sister just recently moved several states away. It has been an adjustment going from a car trip of two hours to e-mail and airplane rides. We are planning a big trip to go see Kurt's sister's new home. She has one daughter who just graduated from high school and is headed for college in the fall. Hard to believe she was the flower girl in our wedding! Kurt has nine aunts and uncles! He keeps in touch with all of them through e-mail and a big family party once a year.
Kurt's father works for a newspaper and still lives close to us. He visits regularly, He loves to stay for family dinners and watch his grandchildren as they grow up. All of Kurt's family is excited about welcoming a member of the family.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Cozy Home
We live in an old, New England seaside town that is full of
family activities such as fairs and parades, Our house is a 1928 colonial with four bedrooms, a playroom, a kitchen adjoined by a dining room, a living room and a two-car garage. Aidan's favorite part is the fenced in backyard with a swing set that has a fort!
Mucking on Block Island with Dad
Our house is within walking distance of the town, the elementary school and the YMCA. We are also within walking distance of the beach. We are friendly with all of the neighbors and many of them have young children. Aidan started Kindergarten this fall. We walk to and from the elementary school which is right down the street. Erik started his first neighborhood playgroup with five little guys that live in the neighborhood. On many holidays, we get together with all the children. Fourth of July we all watch the fireworks on the beach together. We also host an annual
winter "beat the blues" party that gets us all in the mood for spring. All in all, this is an ideal place to raise a family.
