Eugene’s Extended Family at a Christmas Get-Together
Eugene’s parents live on the edge of our town. Eugene's dad is one of ten children. All but two of his aunts and uncles live in our town, so we are related to lots of people in our town. Eugene's dad is quite handy with building and fixing things while his mother is an excellent cook. She also loves to sew and paint. Eugene's parents are both retired but work at our church as custodians. Eugene has one older sister who is married and has three children. He also has a younger sister who has two children. Both sisters live within a thirty-minute drive. Eugene has one brother who is an identical twin. His brother is divorced and lives with his parents. Eugene and his brother are very close and help each other a lot. Since they both live in the same town they are always being mistaken for the other which can be very amusing. Eugene's family is very excited to add yet another member to their large family.
Janice’s Extended Family at Thanksgiving
Janice’s dad and step mom live out in the country a few miles from us. Janice's mom died from cancer a long time ago. Janice and her parents talk several times a week. Janice's dad is a life-long farmer and is very good at it. He has always had another job though. (Farming doesn't pay enough.) Currently he is delivering oil well parts. Janice's dad is very positive and always smiles. Janice's step mom is retired from the county courthouse and loves to go with Bob on his work trips. She also loves fulfilling her role as Nana and spoiling the grandkids. Janice has one older sister who is divorced and has three children. They live about an hour away. Janice has one brother who is several years younger. He is married and has two children. He and his family live on the outside edge of our town. Janice also has two step sisters; one has two young children that our son loves to play with. Our son loves to go to Papa and Nana's house. There is plenty of room to play and explore on the farm. Janice's parents are anxious for another grandchild
to spoil.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in an older home in a small, quiet, Oklahoma town. Even though our home is older it is very updated. We have completely remodeled the entire house, room by room. Our home is large and the rooms have plenty of space. It has high ceilings and lots of windows. We love the light that we get in the house. Our home has three bedrooms and two baths. We hope to add on a fourth bedroom with a bath soon. Our house sits on a corner lot, which takes up one-fourth of a city block. We have lots of yard in the front and back of our house. We have a swing set and a clubhouse that are waiting for another child to play on them. Our house is also right across the street from the school where Janice teaches.
Enjoying Our Porch Swing
We really enjoy living in our small town. We both grew up here and know lots of people who live in this area. The people are so friendly and helpful; you never have to look very far to find a helping hand. Our town's history is quite interesting. We have a great museum. We have a nice park, a swimming pool (where we have spent many summer hours), several businesses downtown and a very tasty little diner. Our town has a great pumpkin fest every year with pumpkin rolls down Main Street and push car races. The church that we attend is the church that Janice has attended since she was a baby. The people there are friendly and loving. Some of our best friends are part of our church family. Our schools are great. They are academically based but also offer things like band, sports, and FFA.
