Our Extended Families

Alan's Extended Family

Both of us are fortunate to come from very close and supportive families! We are lucky to have Alan's Mom ten minutes from us. We get to see her at least once a week. She is retired and looks forward to having fun with another grandchild!

Alan is the youngest of four kids. His sister lives in Hollywood with her husband and three kids, a brother in Reno with his wife and four kids, and another brother and his wife in Dallas. We love to visit them! Each year we all get together for a family reunion at the beach. Everyone likes rocking on the porch, shell hunting and taking turns cooking nice dinners. Our favorite activity is hanging out on the pontoon boat. We enjoy telling funny stories and the kids like to sit by the captain's seat.

Alan's brother and his wife in Reno adopted a child in June of 2005. They are thrilled that we wish to adopt again! Your child would have a sibling close in age to share their adoption story with and a young cousin that was also adopted.

Amy's Extended Family

Amy's Mom and Dad live just over an hour away. We get to see them at least every couple weeks. They live in a small town near our state zoo and also have a beach house on the North Carolina coast. Amy's Mom is retired from being a Kindergarten teacher. Amy's Dad owns a recruiting business and has a flexible work schedule. They are very active grandparents and will share the same extraordinary love they have for our son Nathan with your child!

Amy has an older brother who is married with two kids and lives near Wrightsville Beach, NC. We enjoy seeing Amy's extended family often since we all live close by, but especially at the holidays when we can spend even more time together. Christmas warms our hearts when we see the excitement the season brings to the children and when we bake lots of homemade candy to give away. Every Fourth of July, we all watch a large fireworks show on the beach and have fun roasting s'mores over an open fire. Everyone is so excited about us growing our family through adoption again!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Happy Home

We live in the suburbs just north of our friendly city in North Carolina. Our happy home is a beautiful two-story home in a well sought after planned community. We have four-bedrooms, three baths, a formal dining and living room, a nice open kitchen and den. It's the largest neighborhood in our area and the only one complete with it's own top-ranked elementary, middle and high school, a YMCA, several pools, parks, miles of sidewalks, biking trails, a golf course, shopping centers, a roller skating rink, a movie theater, and many family oriented restaurants all within the neighborhood.

On Our Front Porch with Samantha & Otis

Our home has lots of big oak trees with a fenced in back yard. Out of our back gate, we are a short walking distance through the woods to the elementary and middle school sporting fields. There is a baseball, soccer and football field, a track and an outdoor basketball court all behind our house. We spend time at the fields playing games with our son Nathan and throwing the ball with our two small dogs. Our dogs love children! We love to go on stroller walks together and ride bikes in our safe neighborhood.

We're surrounded by many families with babies and young children so there will always be plenty of friends around! During the summer, we have a couple of pools to choose from that have water slides and water play structures. In the winter, the YMCA has a nice heated pool. Our neighborhood has its own camps, arts and crafts programs, an annual Easter egg hunt, a July 4th children's parade, a Halloween costume party and Christmas activities.

We chose this neighborhood because it is an ideal place to raise children. We are also close to the city where there are 3 universities, children's museums, professional sporting events, live theater and much more. We feel lucky to be a part of such a beautiful area.
