Colleen is the only child in her family. Her parents have been married for almost forty years. They live just minutes from Alan and Colleen and live in the same neighborhood as Alan's parents. Colleen's mother was a preschool teacher for over twenty years and her father has his own business. Growing up Colleen spent a lot of time with her younger cousin and her parents' best friend's three children; they are all like brothers and
sister to her. Colleen's parents are very supportive and thrilled to pieces about the thought of having another grandchild.
Alan’s Extended Family
Alan has an older brother and younger sister. His parents are both retired school teachers and have been married for over forty-five years. Alan grew up in the Midwest where his family still owns land used for farming. Alan's brother, his wife and two children live about an hour away. We usually see them at least monthly for weekend visits either at our house or theirs. Alan's sister and her husband live nearby; we see them often. They are expecting their first child.
Both of our families look forward to having another family member.
House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in a large home with plenty of room for children. We have five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a large game room. The house is a few years old and is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. The street has a large green belt and playground at the end of it where children of all ages play. We enjoy taking our Scottie dogs Raleigh and R.J. (Raleigh Jr.) on walks around the neighborhood. We love spending time in our backyard swimming, playing on the swing set and having BBQ's with friends and family. Our large backyard has a grass area with a swing-set and a swimming pool separately fenced off.
With Our Dogs at the Park
We reside in a suburban city neighboring a metropolitan area. Our city has an excellent school system and lots of parks, bicycle
riding trails, and even water parks for the residents. Every year our city has a Christmas parade with a tree lighting ceremony, a spring festival complete with carnival rides and a huge Fourth of July
fireworks display.
