Our families are both very close and supportive. Nancy is especially close to her mom, who lives in our same town. They talk every day and see each other often. Her father passed away many years ago and her mother is remarried to a wonderful man. They enjoy a happy marriage and both are very active. Often they are mistaken to be 10 years younger than their actual ages! Nancy has two older brothers. Scott lives about 10 minutes away. He and his wife, Janet, have 3 pre-teen daughters. The three girls love young children and are great with our son. They love to play with him and have him over to their house. We are able to just pop in anytime for a visit, since their door is always open to us. Nancy's other brother, Steven lives a bit further away but is always around for holidays and family events. Steven and his wife, Cindy, have 2 young daughters. Nancy's mom owns a vacation house on the water near the ocean. Nancy and her brothers spent every summer there as children and have great memories of carefree summer days. We all still head down to the house as much as we can. It's always full of family and we love being outside by the water.
St. Paddy’s Day Parade
Tony comes from a large Italian family. His parents have been happily marriedfor 46 years and put family above all else. They retired a few years ago and moved to New Jersey to be closer to our family (and to Tony's brother's family). We are all within 10 minutes drive of each other. Tony's parents are dedicated to the family and are always there for us when we need them. They love to cook and often drop off food or invite us for dinner. Tony's dad helps us out around the house, including tending to our two gardens (having fresh vegetables and herbs in the summer is fantastic) and doing other odd jobs around the house. Tony's mom also loves to spend time with her grandchildren and will baby-sit anytime, including sleepovers. Tony has a younger brother, Rob. They are very close, having attended the same college and then sharing a condo for 5 years. Rob and his wife, Gina, also live about 10 minutes away and have 3 young sons.
Both families are already very excited about our adoption decision and are really looking forward to meeting the newest member of the family.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in a 4-bedroom home with very spacious rooms and an open floor plan. We have a fenced in backyard with a deck, swing set and sandbox. This year we finished our basement, which is now a wonderful playroom and recreation room for our family and friends. Our son enjoys the new basement and can't wait to share it with his future brother or sister. He talks about it all the time.
Pool or Piano Anyone?
We chose our town because of the family focus and great school system. They hold many great family activities such as parades, festivals and car shows, to name a few. The school system is one of the best in New Jersey. The grammar school, in particular, is always ranked in the Top 10 in the state. Our street is full of young families and there are many children. It's wonderful to be able
to go outside and always run into friends. No need to call and
prearrange a time. We are also in walking / bike riding distance to our public library and park. We take great advantage of all the town has to offer.
