Family has always been very important to us. We both grew up in tight knit families that value quality time together. We respect our parents, love our siblings, and enjoy spending holidays, and special times together.
Andrea’s Family
Steve is the second of three boys. His family loves to get together for Sunday dinners, and they always celebrate birthdays in a big way! Steve, Andrea, and Steve's dad all have birthdays within three days of each other, so there is always a lot of cake and presents to go around. Even though we are all adults, we still enjoy lighting the birthday candles, turning out the lights, and listening to everyone sing. Steve's brothers do not have any children yet, so our daughter Caroline is the only grandchild on Steve's side. Steve's parents are a proud Grandma and Grandpa, who just adore Caroline. Steve's whole family has embraced and spoiled Caroline, and they can't wait to shower another child with all of their attention and love!
We feel very fortunate to live so close to our families. Andrea's parents and oldest sister Karen live about 15 minutes away. This has been such a blessing, as it allows us to be actively involved in each other's lives. Andrea's other sister Stephanie is married with two daughters. She lives about 40 minutes away, but that doesn't stop us from getting together with them often! Andrea and Stephanie are not only sisters, but the best of friends. They speak daily and have always turned to one another for advice and support. We have a very special bond with Stephanie's two girls, Emily and Carey. During the summer months especially, our nieces stay with us for days at a time! Andrea's family is thrilled about our decision to adopt again. They can't wait to love (and spoil) another baby!!
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Happy Home
We live in a small, quiet, country town that has a strong sense of community and tradition. In July, American flags line Main Street for the annual Independence Day parade, and the flags remain there all summer long. On Christmas Eve, Main Street is lined with candles for miles. It is peaceful and absolutely beautiful.
Our home is warm, comfortable, and inviting. It has four bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a dining room, den, and a large family room with fireplace. The family room walls are decorated with photos of family, vacations, and fun. The walls also proudly display all of Caroline's precious art work! This is a great home, neighborhood, and town for children to grow up in!
Our house is located in a small neighborhood on a quiet cul-de-sac. It is the kind of neighborhood where children can safely ride their bikes on the street, play kick ball in the turn around, and stay out until dark. There are several young families that live on our street. We are thrilled with the potential for playdates and fun to be had!
Our Backyard
Our house seems to be meant for an active family who loves to entertain and who loves the outdoors. During the summer months we are always outside enjoying our yard and swimming pool. We have two decks where we like to barbeque and a patio where we have an outdoor firepit for roasting marshmallows at night. The hill in our front yard is great for sledding in the wintertime. We can easily see this being a hotspot for our children and the neighborhood kids during the winter months. We envision that these gatherings will always be followed by treats and hot chocolate!!
We love living in a town filled with farms and nature trails. We enjoy going for walks on these trails, and in the fall we like to go to a local farm for pumpkin picking and hayrides. We also love going to the local park which has a great playground for kids of all ages. The park also hosts family concerts, movie nights, and Easter egg hunts. While we have all the benefits of a small town, it's also nice to have shopping malls and movie theaters just a short drive away. We feel like we have the best of both worlds.
