Eileen’s parents and siblings all live within 20 miles of us. Her mom is retired but always seems to be going somewhere or doing something. Her dad runs his business and still manages to find time for his weekly round of golf. Eileen is the second youngest child and has six brothers and sisters. Occasionally we all get together for a night of pizza and board games. At Christmas after we're done eating and the gifts have been shared, we all gather by the fireplace for bingo, which has been a family tradition for years.
Glenn’s Extended Family
Glenn’s mom still works full time as a mail carrier, yet still has plenty of time for her grandsons. He lost his Dad ten years ago and still misses him very much. They shared a passion for bicycles and antique cars. Glenn has three brothers and lots of nephews, two of which were adopted through American Adoptions. We feel lucky that several of them live close as we enjoy taking them to water parks, carnivals and the movies.
We are always doing something with our families, whether it's a sleepover with our nephews or a summer barbecue. With such a large family, if we're not celebrating someone's birthday or anniversary, there's a holiday right around the corner.
What we think makes us unique is that both our families get along and actually like each other. In fact, about once a month, we take all three parents out for dinner and occasionally we celebrate a holiday with both families together.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in a beautiful 4 bedroom home in a lovely community in a medium sized suburban town in New Jersey. Our home is two
stories with large bedrooms, a cozy fireplace, a beautiful private fenced in yard and a huge family room which we cannot wait to make a child's playroom. In our quaint cul-de-sac are several young families with children ranging from newborn to about eight years old. We have a great community lake with a lifeguard and several parks within walking distance.
Our Backyard
Our town is very family and child oriented. They have carnivals, parades, little league and town-celebration days. We also have a great school system and town library and various churches nearby, including one that we attend regularly. And, the beach and boardwalk are less than an hour's drive. One of the key reasons we chose to live in our town is that it is known for making family issues a priority.
