Sonny’s parents live in Croatia. His father is a retired newspaper photographer in very good health. Although retired, he still lives an active lifestyle. He enjoys walking down the Adriatic Coast. He never leaves his house without a camera and is always in a search for the next spectacular photograph. Sonny's mother is also in a good health and active. She is a retired tailor who now enjoys growing plants and beautiful flowers in her garden. Sonny's brother and his family live a short five minute driving distance away from our house in Arizona. They have a 7 year old son who we adore. He is a smart, respectful, and polite child full of love and life.
Celebrating Birthday with Parents
Tanya’s older brother and his family live in Croatia. They have a 2 year old daughter. Tanya's mom, who is a retired physical therapy assistant, also lives in Croatia. She also often comes to visit us for winter holidays with Sonny's parents. Tanya and her mom then spend some quality time together: bake the walnut cake, decorate the house, dress the Christmas tree and prepare dinner for the family. Tanya's father passed away several years ago. She recalls him as a very kind man who liked to dress nicely and enjoyed socializing with his many friends. He was a great person who enjoyed life in every little moment. He loved everything around him, from the trees, ocean, pets and people. He was a fireman and a police officer. He and Tanya had a tradition to harvest wild asparagus in early spring, since that area is famous for wild asparagus growth.
Our family tradition is for the entire family to get together for the holidays when our parents come and visit for one to two months. That is our precious time together, since we do not see them often during the year other then in the summer time when we visit them in Croatia. We usually spend Christmas Eve, which just happens to be Sonny's birthday as well, at our house and Christmas Day at Sonny's brother's house. That is the time when all of our family gets together.
Both of our families are very excited about our adoption plans and can't wait to welcome another family member.
Our House and Neighborhood
Home Sweet Home
We live in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance from one of the most beautiful cities in the country full of restaurants, shops, museums, golf courses, parks, churches, and libraries which attracts thousands and thousands of tourists from all around the world every year. We live only a short drive from a major college campus, professional sports stadiums, regional parks, and lakes. We feel that we are most fortunate because we have an advantage of living in a small community, where it is not unusual to see a Jackrabbit or a Quail wonder around the yard, but can take a full advantage of vibrant urban living.
Our Backyard
Our house is located on a small residential street that generates only local neighborhood traffic. We live in a charming 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with a specious front yard and private fenced backyard. Large turf area in front provides a nice play area and several citrus and fig trees planted in the turf provide shade and a visual buffer from the street. Our sparkling fenced private pool with automatic gate lock is a focal point of the backyard. Generous turf area separates the fenced pool on one side from the covered outdoor patio with the barbeque and the outdoor table on the other side of the backyard. This turf area will be ideal and a safe place for a child to play. The partially shaded side yard on the east side of the house is an ideal place for a veggie garden. The side yard on the west side of the house is our rose garden.
