We are very blessed to have a large close knit family. We spend a great amount of time with our extended families. We both enjoy getting together with them for Sunday dinners, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and any other excuse we can come up with.
Tom’s Extended Family
Martha: Unique, close, and loving is the way I describe my family. I grew up on a 300 acre dairy farm with my 3 younger brothers and 13 cousins. Not a day went by that we didn't get together to play or work. We would spend hours playing in the dirt with tractors and trucks, swimming, or doing the farm chores. Today we still live close to one another and spend holidays, birthdays, and special times together. My mother was a home economics teacher before I was born but became a stay at home mom afterwards. Now she substitute teaches and baby sits my two nephews a few days a week. My father is a retired electrical engineer and does some work with my brother in his construction company. I was raised in a very stable Christian home going to church and very active in the church activities. I am the oldest of four children and the only girl. My oldest two brothers are married and my youngest brother is still living at home with mom and dad. My two young nephews are a very special part of both Tom and my lives. My brothers, sisters in law, nephews, Tom and I get together weekly at Mom and Dad's for dinner and some fun on the farm. Mom is the GREATEST cook in the world! We eat, ride horses, 4 wheelers, and catch up on the weekly events.
Tom: I am the youngest of four children. My oldest sister lives in the Virgin Islands, where I once had the pleasure of visiting her. I look forward to going there as a family someday. My other sister, brother and Mom live just a few hours away in the West Virginia town where we grew up. My Dad passed away five years ago. He was a retired welder. My Mom is a retired administrative assistant for a school of nursing. Although my family lives out of town, we stay in touch with weekly phone calls, emails, visits, and holiday get togethers.
Both of our families are so supportive and excited about our adoption plans. We know that your baby will thrive with all the love, affection, and attention imaginable. Your child, undoubtedly, will always be loved unconditionally by everyone!
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in the beautiful bluegrass state of Kentucky with our inside dog Courtney, our outside dog Goldie and several outside cats and kittens. Four years ago we moved out in the country to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with lots of room to play. Our home has an open floor plan that allows for various types of interaction while engaging in activities throughout the home. We have a bedroom set aside that we are excitedly waiting to decorate as a nursery. We are surrounded by rolling hills and pastures with cows and horses. When the weather is nice, you can always find us out on our patio enjoying the natural scenery, sunsets and hummingbirds. We already have a child's playhouse in the side yard and plenty of room for a swing set. There is also a community park just a short distance away. We have a good sized garden where we grow green beans, tomatoes, squash, peppers and okra. And kind, friendly neighbors are just down the road a piece.
The inside of our house is decorated with a loving, comfortable, country feeling. "Bless this home with family and friends" is a quote that we have hanging on the wall in our kitchen. Our house is not just a place where we live but a HOME filled with an abundance of laughter, caring and love for friends and family, of which, your beautiful new baby would, no doubt, be the most wonderfully cherished addition we could possibly dream of.
