Our Extended Families

Dave’s Family

Although our parents live on the east coast (where we both grew up) they are all retired so we are lucky they can visit frequently. We also don't mind traveling so we go to see them too. In fact both of our grandmas recently celebrated their 90th birthdays. In the spring we went to help Dave’s grandma celebrate and in the fall we went to see Julie’s grandma. Both ladies were treated to big parties in their honor with all of their families around them. Both events were like family reunions with family flying in from all over the country.

Julie’s Family

Our families have always been supportive of our decision to adopt. Dave's parents actually adopted him and his sister as infants so now we are a second generation adoptive family which we think is really special. Julie's cousin also adopted a baby. Our parents enjoy being grandparents more than anything in the world.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We love our house and neighborhood. We live in a suburb of a large city in Arizona. Our neighborhood is set up against a big mountain that you can see from miles away. There are walking trails and parks scattered all throughout the community. The closest park is at the end of our street, just a minute or two away by foot.

Our Back Yard

The best part about our neighborhood is the events that happen for families. At Easter time there is a big Easter Egg Hunt. You wouldn't believe how many kids come. The Easter Bunny kicks off the festivities and all the kids get treats at the end. On Fourth of July there is a parade where everyone decorates their bikes, strollers, golf carts, boats, etc. Usually the fire department comes with a fire truck and leads the parade. Everyone lines up on the streets to wave to the parade participants. At Halloween our neighborhood gathers together for a potluck on the street before the official start of Trick-or-Treating. It gives everyone a good chance to see the kids’ costumes. Last year they had a moon bounce for the kids too. After we eat everyone heads back home to greet the Trick-or-Treaters. Our favorite thing is when people dress up their dogs.

Our home is a single-story home with 3 bedrooms. We have a lot of living space. Our kitchen is huge and it opens up into a great room and dining room. We've turned our dining room into a play room for now and I'm sure it will stay that way for some time to come. Your child will have their own bedroom which will be decorated soon after they arrive. Our favorite part of our home is our backyard. The entire yard is fenced in with a block fence that is typical in Arizona. We have a swimming pool where we spend hours of time splashing around. The pool has an additional fence with all the proper safety locks. We have a great patio where we can eat outside or just play.
