Our Extended Families

Chris’ Family Portrait

Chris has one brother who lives in North Carolina with his wife and two daughters. His parents, grandmom, and two of his three uncles all live in the same area in Virginia. They always have fun when they get together. They love to talk and laugh. They all have excellent senses of humor.

One of Chris' uncles lives on a lake and every year on the Fourth of July family members who are available meet there. They have a cookout and his aunt always makes a cake that has fresh strawberries and blueberries and is decorated to look like an American flag. When it is time for fireworks, the family loads up into the pontoon boat and watches them from the middle of the lake. It's quite the display.

PJ’s Family Portrait

PJ has two brothers; one older and one younger. They both live in Alabama along with her mother, aunt and uncle, and a cousin. The whole family still lives in the city where PJ was raised. Since they all live near each other it is easy to get together whenever Chris and PJ are in town. PJ's older brother has a wife and two children. He was adopted by PJ's parents before she was born, which gives her a unique perspective on how adoption can be used to build a family.

Both families are excited to grow the family through adoption. They are behind this decision 100%. They can't wait to see what beautiful little child God will bring to the family for everyone to shower with love.

Our Home and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in an apartment community. We have a three bedroom apartment: one room for us, one for Chris' home office and one for the baby. There is also a kitchen, dining room, living room, and two full bathrooms. We also have a laundry closet which makes it easier for us to get needed chores done while still being able to spend time focusing on other things.

On the Swings at Our Apartment Complex

The community has a vibrant mix of people. There are people of all ages and several different ethnicities represented in this community. It is not unusual for us to pass by groups of children at the playground and the swimming pool when we take our dogs for a walk in the afternoon. Often times, the children come play with our husky, Cheyenne. It is rather unusual to see a husky in Louisiana, so the children are fascinated, and everyone thinks Cheyenne is very friendly and beautiful. They enjoy seeing Pandora too. She is a black lab mix.

It is nice to see children of African, Asian, Middle Eastern, and European descent playing together. It is one of our favorite things about where we live. Everyone seems to get along and respect each other's differences. It is indicative of how friendly and cohesive the community is.
