We both come from warm, stable, loving families. Michael has two brothers, both older, both married with children. Their wives are like sisters to Kate and she counts them among her closest friends. Family get-togethers and vacations are always filled with fun moments as the three brothers play and compete as much as the kids do. Our three nephews and our niece, all older than our son Jeremy, love him and work to include him in all the games they play. Jeremy adores his cousins and looks so forward to seeing them and spending time with them. He has definitely acquired his love of sports and competition from his older cousins and family get-togethers on Michael's side. Michael's family all live around 3 hours away, so when we get together we try to make it special. His parents are retired and family is their number one priority. They come visit us regularly, watch Jeremy's baseball games every year, and take the whole family away on a vacation every year as well. They are very excited to be adding another member to the family!
On the Beach in North Carolina with Kate’s Extended Family
Kate has three younger sisters, all married, all with children. Kate's parents and sisters all live in another state as well, so we try to get together at Kate's parents' house, which is centrally located, when we can. Kate's sisters are among her closest friends and our nephews and nieces on Kate's side are all on the younger side so our get-togethers are much different. The kids love putting on plays, singing and dancing together and enjoying each others' company. Kate's parents are semi-retired, and spend their time trying to keep up with all the grandchildren and visiting with each family when they can. They are thrilled to be adding another grandchild to the mix!
The family vacations we take each year, usually one with each extended family, are highlights for us. Each family trip takes on its own personality and we come away each time with countless precious memories, whether the trip is to a beach in NC, a resort in the Poconos or Aruba! These are very special times for us, and our extended families, and we ALL can't wait to share these trips and more with a new baby!
Our House and Neighborhood
Home Sweet Home
We live in a wonderful neighborhood in a picturesque town along the Connecticut shoreline. Our neighborhood consists of 2 cul-de-sacs, the homes filled with families with children. Because it's not a terribly large neighborhood, we know all of our neighbors and try to have monthly get-togethers at each others' homes. There are young children and older children in the mix, really a great group of people.
The Playroom - Where the FUN is!
Our home is a 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath colonial that sits on more than 2 acres of land, surrounded by tall trees. We have a swingset out back and a giant playroom over the 3-car garage. This is our dream home, the home we waited so long to have. Part of our dream has always been to fill our home with children. Our son Jeremy has done a great job filling it by himself so far, but we all yearn for a sibling to join him and share in adventures with us.
We love our town. It has so much to offer families. We're on the shoreline so we can go to the beach or a local lake where Jeremy has learned to swim, or to a fun park and playground right down the road. The Parks and Recreation Department in town offers tons of seasonal classes for children of all ages, and adults as well. It really is the epitome of New England living!
