Our Extended Families

Cousins at a Graduation

We enjoy a great relationship with our families. We are very blessed in that we get to be with our parents a lot! Both sets live within ten minutes of us so it's easy to just pop in any time we want. Plus we all go to church together! What a blessing that is! Our parents are very devoted grandparents. It seems they can always find fun things to do with Cassidy - whether it's working in the garden, going to the library, feeding the ducks at the river, or working on a craft project. When we told them of our plans to adopt again they were ecstatic! They are thrilled to have a new little one to love.

Christmas Eve at Carrie’s Parents’

We have had wonderful examples before us all of our lives of what a loving and committed marriage is. Kelly’s parents have been married for forty-eight years and Carrie’s parents have been married for fifty-three years! We believe that these examples have laid the strong foundation on which our relationship has been built.

We are each the youngest child in our families - Kelly with an older brother and sister, and Carrie with three older brothers. Between us we have eighteen nieces and nephews! What fun we have with them! They love hanging out with Uncle Kelly and Aunt Carrie - and we love hanging out with them. We enjoy going to their school programs and sporting events, having them come to spend a night or a weekend with us, and celebrating holidays and their birthdays.

Our families have so much love to share and they can't wait to share that love with another baby!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We have made our home in a beautiful medium sized town in Illinois. God has blessed us with a spacious three-bedroom ranch home that we built in 2003. It is nestled among the trees on a half acre in a small, quiet neighborhood. Carrie tends to be a "city gal" (you know, never can be more than five minutes from Wal-Mart!) and Kelly tends to be a "country boy"; so that presented a dilemma as we were deciding where we would build our house. Thankfully, this neighborhood fit the bill for both of us because it is right in the heart of the city, yet it very much feels like the country! Our yard is bordered by woods and is full of trees and wildlife. It is common to look out of the French doors by our kitchen table as we're eating supper and see bunnies and squirrels, or a family of deer, or even a fox or raccoon.

Our Playhouse

We have lots of room for riding bikes, playing in our playhouse, kicking around a soccer ball, swinging on our tire swing, or just relaxing on our deck. While we enjoy doing many different things as a family…traveling, going to festivals and the zoo, and spending time with our friends, the old saying is still true, "There's no place like home." We love spending time together at home.
