We are both blessed with loving and supportive families. We are both very close to our parents and siblings and we enjoy spending as much time as possible with them.
Kevin is the youngest of four children. He has two older brothers, and his sister is the oldest of his siblings. All of his siblings are married and his family continues to grow as new babies are expected! Kevin is not only considered to be the "fun uncle" to his 11 nieces and nephews, but is also a Godparent to 3 of his nephews and 1 of his nieces.
Being raised Catholic, Kevin and his brothers were altar boys at their parish during their childhood. On top of that, his entire family was very active in the church including cleaning the church, and participating in all of the major celebrations - Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, which even included his mother playing Santa Claus at the church celebration several years during Christmas time. Kevin and his family were also
active at school. His father was the principal at their high school for several years before he went active duty with the United States Air Force. Kevin participated in the Key Club, student government, and was a star athlete in football, baseball, and basketball, all of which he enjoyed playing with his brothers and sister growing up.
Michelle’s Family
Michelle is the youngest of five children - with 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. She has many memories of trying to be just like her older siblings - from learning the latest jump-rope trick as a child, to going on biking and hiking adventures, and to learning how to drive as a teenager. Her siblings and she have always been close. Coming from a traditional Catholic family, celebrating feast days, such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas were not only filled with rich religious meaning, but were times for all her aunts and uncles and numerous cousins to gather. She has fond memories of having all-family games of volleyball, Frisbee, badminton, and bocce ball.
Many of her siblings are married and her family is growing as new babies are also expected. She thoroughly enjoys spending as much time as possible with her 11 nieces and nephews, 3 of which are her God-children. All her friends hear a lot about them all, as she brags about how cute they are all the time.
We have been blessed with loving supportive families, which are joined together now through our marriage. There is so much love between everyone, and they have been extremely supportive of our decision to adopt, and are greatly looking forward to the day they can meet your child and welcome him or her into our family.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in a family-oriented, multi-cultural and historical suburban neighborhood in Virginia. We moved here because it is a great place to raise a family. There are many families and young children in our neighborhood, making it a great place to be a child, as they would have many play-mates!
Our immediate neighborhood has many swing-sets and playgrounds, a community water-park for the summer months, and sits on the edge of a golf course, where Kevin hopes to teach our children how to play golf.
Neighborhood Playground Behind Our Home
Our town is lively and there is always something going on, from festivals, to sporting and cultural events. Besides having excellent schools and hospitals, every year at Christmas there is a parade down our main street complete with marching band and Santa Claus! Then, at Halloween there is a haunted house, and at Easter, an Easter egg hunt with the Easter Bunny. The downtown area has many restaurants, outdoor concerts in the summer, an ice-skating rink in winter, movie
theaters, and some great ice-cream shops! We are also close to the Shenandoah National Park, where there are numerous hiking trails, orchards, farms, and ski resorts with lessons for children in the winter. And, we are within a few short hours of the beach where Michelle's family owns a house and we spend much of the summer there.
We also live just outside a major city, which allows us to easily attend major league baseball games and other sporting events, as well as attend concerts and plays and visit museums and the zoo.
Our house is ready and waiting for children. It is a 3-story house with 3 bedrooms, in walking distance to the playground, and has a cozy family room that is just waiting to be reincarnated as a child's "rec" room. We have a spacious back-deck just off our kitchen, where we spend many Saturdays enjoying outdoor bar-b-que's with family, friends, and neighbors. Our home is perfect for entertaining and hosting family gatherings throughout the year.
