We are very close to our families, despite the fact that we live in the US and they live in Canada. We visit each other often! Julie has one sister (Ginette), two brothers (Donald and Yvon) and her mom. Her father passed away when her mom, Berthe was 6 months-pregnant with Julie. Berthe has been retired for a while but is still very active in her community and at church.
Pascal’s Family at Christmas
Pascal has one older sister (France), and one younger sister (Isabelle). France lives in Montreal with her spouse Christian. Isabelle has Down syndrome, and lives in a special care home. Pascal's parents still live in the old family house. Both are retired but are still very active. They like playing cards and going out for Sunday brunch with their brothers and sisters.
Charlotte was only a few weeks old when Mammie Berthe visited for the first time. And Charlotte was only 3 months old when she made her first trip to Canada to get baptized! We had a great time there. Everybody came down to visit during the following summer. The entire family is mad about Charlotte!
Everybody is very excited that we are planning on adopting again. They all have a better understanding of adoption now than when we first set out to adopt the first time. They are all looking forward to have another child to love and spoil.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We have a 4-bedroom, two-story colonial-contemporary house in Connecticut. We just remodeled the kitchen and are looking forward to cooking and baking for one more stomach! We are in a family-oriented neighborhood, very pretty and quiet. All the neighbors are friendly and helpful. We can always count on each other and we get together for BBQs a couple times a year.
At Halloween we always have a lot of trick or treaters. Traffic on our street is slow and kids can walk safely. During summer time kids ride their bike in the street. People take walks in the morning or after dinner at night.
Destination Saturday Afternoon
There are great schools and daycares in the area, all within a few minutes from our house. There are also great parks, filled with all kinds of swing sets and games where we will spend some weekend afternoons. We already tried them numerous times when our friends came visiting us with their kids. We are also close to New York City which has so much to offer.
Our closest neighbors have 3 adorable children, Andrew (5 years-old), Lauren (1 year-old) and Corinne (8 years-old). Julie is Lauren's Godmother. They come and visit often, enjoying our swing set that we repainted and accessorized with new swings a few years ago. They have their own brand new swing set, but they like to come visit and play on ours. We always have homemade juice for them because they really like it.
