Our Extended Families

Dulce’s Family

We go to our family for guidance, friendship and support. It's rare for a weekend to go by (especially during the summer) that we are not doing something involving them.

Dulce is the older of two daughters. Marlene her sister is married to Aaron and they have three children (our pride & joy) Janquelle (Quelley), Emmiah (Miah) and Ashanti (Sha Sha). Her mom (also called Dulce) is planning her retirement this year and loves to travel and plans on traveling even more once she's retired. Mom certainly has earned some R&R.

Dulce says her mother's values truly shaped her life. "In unity there is strength" is her mother's mantra. Dulce considers herself blessed for her mother's endless devotion to family, faith, strength, honor, stress of education and hard work.

Her fondest memory growing up is going to the lake or shore during the summer with her mom, Marlene and her extended family members - swimming, tons of food, music, dancing (Merengue), lots of laughter and lifelong great memories.

Kevin’s Family

Kevin was raised in a small suburban town north of Chicago. His parents have been happily married for over 45 years and are near retirement. They have always been & remain loving and encouraging. Diane, Kevin's mom to this day owns the barber chair all her boys sat in at their first visit to the barber shop. Kevin's oldest brother John is married to Amy and they have two beautiful girls (Kylie & Megan). Kevin and Dulce are Megan's Godparents. It's become a tradition for John to fly out to Jersey yearly for them to attend a Bears game when they are playing the Giants/Jets team. Though Kevin's family is further away, we speak to them weekly and visit several times throughout the year. Kevin has another brother Rob (2nd oldest) who lives 20 minutes away from us and we spend a lot of time with Rob and his fiancée Jane.

One of Kevin's favorite childhood memories is camping. Every summer he and his family would take a two week camping trip usually to Tomahawk, WI. On the agenda - fishing and swimming all day long barely taking time to eat. To this day, Kevin still thinks of his father's words "Give a child a fish, he eats for the day, Teach a child to fish and he eats for a lifetime."

Our families are ecstatic of our decision to adopt. The child will be showered with lots of hugs and kisses.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our town is rated one of the best places to live in New Jersey with top rated schools. This is a beautiful place for children to grow up. There is plenty for us to do with a child. There is a public swimming pool, ice-skating, roller skating rink; 6 tennis courts and 4 athletic fields not to mention all of the parks. One of the parks actually has train rides, carousal and a zoo including pony rides.

Zoo We Described in Our Community

On Halloween, they close the main streets off so the children can safely trick or treat at all the shops. At Christmas time there is a parade through the town square including many children activities with the conclusion being the lighting of the town Christmas tree and Menorah. Throughout the week, Santa rides around town throwing candy to the children.

As they say location is everything and our town is situated perfectly. We are an hour drive (in a lot of instances much shorter) to NY City, the shore, lakes, country/mountains and amusement parks. We believe that a well rounded child should be exposed to all aspects of life from city (Broadway, Museums) to the country (fishing and camping).

The one thing we haven't mentioned is a very crucial aspect for us since we are an inter-racial couple. This town is culturally diverse and accepting both socially and ethnically.

We believe in giving a child the best environment to develop a strong self esteem, confidence and independence and that will never be negotiable for us.
