Our Extended Families

A Day with Megan’s Family

Megan is one of six siblings. She counts herself very blessed to come from such a large close-knit family. Grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts and uncles all live within an hour of their home. Her family has lots of traditions, including a huge Easter egg hunt at her grandparent's house every Easter. Everyone gets involved, from the youngest to the oldest! Every Thanksgiving both sides of the family fill her parents' home for a Thanksgiving feast. Her parents bring in long tables so that the whole family (sometimes as many as 50 people!) can all sit down and eat together. Christmas always includes reading the Christmas story and singing carols together, as well as everyone opening their stockings together, kids and adults alike!

John’s Brother’s Wedding

John is the oldest of four boys. He has a very large extended family in the area as well, and we really enjoy spending time with them. One of his brothers is a world class pro wakeboarder, and will be able to give our kids free lessons in the summer!

We love going to watch his brother Tim race cars on the summer weekends. John's dad and stepmother live five minutes from our house, and his mom lives on a lake just forty-five minutes away. His family has five generations of family in our area! The cousins, aunts and uncles often gather for family events. Both of our families are very excited about our decision to start a family through adoption.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We bought our house three years ago with kids in mind. We wanted a quiet, safe neighborhood and a yard for our kids to play in. We are at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet, established neighborhood. We have spent countless hours working together over the last few years remodeling our home into the perfect place for kids to grow up in. We have a great backyard with a wooded greenbelt behind it which provides a fun, safe place for a child to adventure. Our street has several families with young children, and everyone has lots of community spirit. Everyone stops to chat with each other in their yards, and every year we have neighborhood Christmas and 4th of July parties.

Christmas at the Lake House

Our town has a great city center with lots of fun shops and community events like the annual Pet Parade and Music or Movies in the Park. It is a beautiful area, surrounded by the waters of Puget Sound, and has great views of Mt. Rainier and the Olympic and Cascade Mountain Ranges. There are countless fun parks and walking trails throughout our community. We are only an hour from the beach, and spend several weekends a year at a family beachfront vacation home. John looks forward to playing baseball and tennis out there with our kids. We also have a family vacation home on a lake just 40 minutes away from our house. Our kids will spend summer days out on the lake learning to fish, swim and water ski.
