Our Extended Families

Jeri’s Parents

Jeri’s folks live within a two hour drive. She has many fond and cherished memories of her childhood, the areas that she has lived, the places that she has visited, and the many family trips across the states during the holidays to visit family. Jeri and her folks were often referred to as the 'three musketeers', they did everything together and are still very close. If her folks went crabbing she went crabbing, if her folks went hiking she went hiking, if her folks went to chop wood she would go and watch; if her folks went fishing she would go so she could take a nap, if her folks went to the movies she would go to the movies. Good thing her folks liked Disney!

With Jason’s Extended Family

Her folks live outside a small town on twenty acres that is home to three horses, a handful of alpacas, ducks, geese, barn cats, and dogs. When her folks aren't tending to their 'flock' they are found working around the property or heading into town to donate their time at a local animal rescue. Her mom, Sherry, works at a department store while her dad, Michael, works in the wood industry. Jeri's folks raised her to be an independent, hard working individual and to reach for her dreams no matter how big they might be. To escape the everyday hustle and bustle of our daily life we will pack a bag, grab our dogs, and head over for a weekend of card games, barbeques, four-wheeling, watching movies and horseback riding. Her folks are very excited about our decision to adopt and cannot wait to welcome this child into their lives. If her mom has her way the child will be on the back of a horse before the child even turns two.

Jason’s family all lives close by. They all get together often to do all sorts of activities, from family barbeques and just hanging out, to softball teams and helping each other with home projects. The entire family usually has something going on that's fun for everyone. Jason's sister lives just a few minutes away, which makes it easy to enjoy outdoor fun in the pool or playing with the dogs. Jason's brother lives thirty minutes away, has two young children ages six and three. The children love coming over to the house to play with the dogs or hang out with Uncle Jason and Aunt Jeri. The children are now starting to enjoy camping with the family and playing games.

Sports have been part of the family for many generations, grandparents bowling since a young age, baseball and softball for the entire gang, football for the boys and swimming for the girls. Riding on bike trails has become the summer sport activity of choice for the whole family. Jason's family has been a large part of the support needed while going through failed attempts at pregnancy. That is why they are very excited to welcome a new addition to the family. They feel strongly that they can help bring a strong family support system for any child new to our environment.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our home is located in a wonderful family-oriented neighborhood and community that is full of life, children, animals and tons to do. We are within a minutes' drive to a beautiful park where one can have picnics, play Frisbee, and play ball. It has a children's play area, benches to 'bird' watch, lots of grass to lay on to catch some rays or read a book and acres upon acres of hiking trails we enjoy with our dogs. We are surrounded by smaller parks, swimming pools, waterslides, baseball fields, schools for all ages, theatres, sport arenas, bike trails, roller and ice skating rinks, and civic centers to name just a few.

Jason and Our Niece at a Local Fair

Our community has many things going on throughout the year, which make it impossible to attend, see, and appreciate each one. Our community has benefit walks for local hospitals, shelters, research, food and clothing drives for the less fortunate including animal shelters; fairs, circus', festivals, rodeos, Easter egg hunts, cruises on the lake, boat rides to see Santa, apple and pumpkin harvests where you can pick your own after you find your way through the amazing corn maze, holiday light tours, hay rides, horse drawn carriage rides, and so much more.

The main floor of our home has three bedrooms, a full bath, and a spacious living room that becomes the center hub for family game time, watching movies, reading or just laying on the couch catching some zzz's. Our lower level is a finished basement with a sewing room, guest room, and a laundry room that is plenty big enough to be a child's 'rec' room. We have a good size fenced in back yard with two fruit trees, basketball hoop, and plenty of running around room. We spend many summer afternoons and weekends having friends and family over for barbeques, outdoor games, and visiting. You can also find us in our backyard working or playing with our dogs.
