Kim’s Extended Family at Her Dad’s 70th Birthday in Georgia
Kim’s Family: I was fortunate to grow up in a very large family the 2nd oldest of 7 with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. We are a unique family. Sort of a"Heinz 57 blend", if you will. My biological father passed away when I was 9. I was the eldest with 3 younger brothers. My Mom married my Dad (Stepfather) when I was 11, who raised us along with his 2 children. Now there were 6. My parents dreamed of a child together and expanded our family with # 7, through adoption. My sister Cara was 3 years old when my parents brought her home from Columbia, South America.
We are all grown up now. Most, married and with children. I have 9 nieces and nephews that I am a loving and VERY proud Aunt to. We are scattered across the country living our lives in the hectic day to day which is often the case in big families, but we are always a phone call, email or visit away.
With John’s Family
I am truly blessed to have parents that support our individualism AND helped create our "unique" family unit. My entire family is sooooo excited about our adoption plans.
John’s Family: I am the youngest of four children. I have two brothers and one sister. My older brother is single with three children. My other brother is married with a grown son. My sister is married with three grown children. My father is enjoying retirement. He spent 21 years in the Air Force and 20 years in sales. My mother was a homemaker who has passed away. My parents placed great emphasis on family get-togethers. Almost every weekend was spent grilling out and enjoying each other's company. My favorite memories were spending time at the ball park or the week spent at the lake every summer. All of my family currently resides in Western Michigan.
Although living in a different state, we are still able to celebrate holidays and the occasional family cookout. My Dad visits often as he loves to take road trips, now that he is enjoying retirement. They are all excited and ready to share in the adoption experience with us.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
Our home is a lovely five bedroom, two story home that sits on a one acre lot in a small wooded community. The neighborhood is very quiet and secluded, but only minutes from community pools, recreation centers, parks, churches and great shopping. Our home has a very open floor plan, including a loft overlooking the family room and kitchen which has a beautiful fireplace. There is a separate living and dining room area, and a finished lower level with a media room that also has a fireplace. We love to watch movies down stairs and cuddle up on the sofa with the fire. We have a beautiful deck off of the kitchen that overlooks the wooded yard where we spend lots of time in the spring and summer months, grilling and just hanging out.
Our Family Room
We have plenty of room to entertain family and friends and look forward to weekend visits from family that lives close by. Your child will have a large nursery/bedroom that has an expansive window with lots of light and cathedral ceilings. There is an adjoining bathroom with a big tub for bath time and splashing around. There is also plenty of room for indoor playing and as your child grows we look forward
to outdoor activities that include a swing set and sand box area.
The neighborhood is full of families that enjoy spending time outside and in each other’s company. Kids of all ages can be found throughout the neighborhood playing games and riding their bikes. One of the highlights of the neighborhood this past summer was the annual Fourth of July celebration.
The school district has earned excellent and effective designations from the state of Ohio the past six years. There are also several nationally recognized private schools located within miles of our home.
