Colby is the oldest of three children. His Mother lives only 20 minutes away with his younger brother Jordan. She loves to cook and we frequent her home for Sunday dinners. Amber is two years younger than Colby and she just recently married a US Marine, she lives in Washington DC.
Colby's Father and step mom live approximately 30 minutes away and we see them almost every Friday night for dinner along with
Colby's his 84-year-old grandfather. They are also parting of our camping weekend trips.
Colby realizes how fortunate he is that both parents live close by and they have very close relationships. Colby's extended and immediate families have openly and unconditionally accepted Rebecca's children as their own grandchildren; they are very excited and supportive of our plans of adopting a child. This child will be a part of a very loving family.
Rebecca’s Family
Rebecca’s parents have been married for 56 years. They live 20 minutes away and she sees them almost on a daily basis (she is still Daddy's little girl) Rebecca's parents are retired and are ecstatic about becoming grandparents again.
Linda, Donna & Rick are Rebecca's older siblings, respectively. Both sisters are married and have two children each, and live in nearby towns. All of the sisters see each other quite often and they are very close and involved in each others children's activities. Rick and his wife live approximately 2 hours away, but they stay close via phone calls and emails.
Rebecca's family is a close knit family, with holidays, birthdays, cookouts and family gatherings at each others homes. Rebecca's siblings, including their spouses, nieces and nephew are all excited about having one more voice to sing "We are family". Their gatherings are fun, happy, cheerful, loud and full of laughter.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in a quaint small town, with the basic necessities that you would need. Our community is very civic oriented, with organizations who sponsor the Kid’s Fishing Day at the town park pond, Halloween “Trunk or Treat”, Annual Homecoming Parade, and Christmas Parade. Our town park is within walking distance from our home, it is equipped with a great play structure with many slides, and the park has a paved walking trail that people use during all times of the day to walk, relax and exercise. The town park also has baseball diamonds which host the Little League program.
Our Town Park
We are only 20 minutes from a major city, which has the local hospital, shopping centers, mall, and all of the major retail outlets. We have a great education system with the elementary school only a few blocks from our home.
Our home is located on a dead end street, which eliminates traffic. On any given day, you can see children riding bikes in the street, shooting hoops in different neighbor’s driveways and children playing ball in the field behind our home.
Our home was built 6 years ago, it is a three bedroom, two bath ranch style home with a formal living room and a great family room, with a foosball and pool table. We have a well-manicured lawn and large back yard, ready for a new swing set.
