Both sets of our parents are happily married and live in the same town as we do. Our whole family is overjoyed over the adoption.
Courtney has a very close relationship with her entire family. Her mom is a retired school teacher, and her dad a retired mail carrier. Her parents live 15 minutes away and they see each other often throughout the week. She has an older brother and a niece and nephew that live in a neighboring state, and she looks forward to spending time with them at least once a month. Courtney is also very close to her grandmother, aunt, uncle and cousins; they all eat lunch together at her grandmother's house every Sunday after church. At holidays, they always play games, laugh, and tell stories over her grandmother's wonderful, home-cooked meals.
Chris’ Extended Family
Chris grew up as an only child and was showered with love and support from his mom and dad. His parents own and run a dairy farm and raise Tennessee Walking horses. Chris always enjoyed helping his parents to work on the farm, and it taught him many valuable life lessons. Chris still enjoys working alongside his
dad in his spare time. Chris also has a large extended family that gets together for all holidays, summer cookouts, and fall hayrides.
His parents are ecstatic about the adoption giving them their only grandchild-which is guaranteed to be spoiled!
We feel so blessed to have such terrific, supportive, and loving families. We all seek guidance from each other and just enjoy being together. They couldn't be any more encouraging about bringing a child into the family through adoption. The child will be loved beyond measure by all of us.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We live in the beautiful farm country of Kentucky in a small, close-knit town. We live just minutes from a state resort park and a beautiful lake that we often go boating on. We just built our dream house-complete with our very own 30 acre farm. Our home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a recreation room (future play room), and a spacious floor plan that includes the kitchen, family room, and dining area being open to each other. When we built our house two years ago, we felt it would be the perfect family area in which we could be together and talk easily. There is also a full basement and very large back deck to enjoy cookouts with a pretty view of the woods behind our house. There are families with small
children who live down the street, and it is a nice, safe place for kids to ride bikes and play in the yard.
Riding the ATV Around the Farm
We live just 10 minutes from our church, in which we are very active. We take pride in the open, friendly atmosphere of
our church and the many activities and ministries for children, in
addition to the strong emphasis on giving and community outreach.
Also, our area's school system was recently ranked one of the top in our state. The schools are new and the principals and teachers have a strong commitment to providing the best atmosphere for learning that is hard to find many other places. Finally, our area also has an active theatre community and well-maintained parks with playgrounds and pools.
