Our Extended Families

Beau’s Extended Family

We are both very close to our extended families. In fact, Beau’s mom and dad live just down the road from us. Beau has a brother, a sister, two nieces and a nephew. Recently, we all gathered at Beau's mom and dad's to celebrate Christmas. When we opened our gifts, we were overwhelmed with the careful thought (not the money) that had gone into each of them. Beau's mom had made us an ornament that had a picture of him and his brother when they were very small. This is just the kind of person she is, and it is exactly why we're so excited that she will soon be a grandma again. After the gifts were opened we played a game. Beau's sister had found a book of Mad Libs, a game we hadn't seen since we were kids. We all took turns filling in the blanks with silly words and reading the stories out loud. We laughed so hard we were sure we had burned off all the calories we'd eaten throughout the day!

Sarah’s Extended Family

Although Sarah’s extended family lives a little further away, we are able to visit them once a week. We make it a priority to go over there every Sunday afternoon. Sarah's mom always cooks a homemade dinner, and as soon as church is over Sarah's aunts, uncles, and cousins start showing up for good food and good fellowship. We joke and laugh with the family through dinner, but the best part of the day is when we bring out the instruments and sing together. Sarah's family has a time-honored tradition of playing bluegrass and gospel music. We love nothing more than to spend an afternoon learning new songs or just enjoying the traditional hymns that have been passed down for generations.

Above all, the thing that unites each of our families is our devotion to our faith. Both of our families have a rich spiritual heritage, and it is one that we hope to share with you and your child some day. Throughout our struggle with infertility, we have drawn strength from our faith and our families. We are comforted daily just by knowing that our families have already begun to help us pray for you and your child.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We have always wanted to raise a family in the country, so when the house that we were renting came up for sale with eight acres, we didn't think twice about buying it! Our home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a full walk-out basement. Our favorite place to be when we're at home is on our front porch overlooking miles and miles of Missouri hills.

Our Dog Daisy at the Pond

Our property connects to our family's farm, an almost 800 acre cattle ranch. Just a short walk from the house is a fully-stocked pond for impromptu afternoon fishing trips. It is not uncommon for us to see a deer looking for a snack in our back yard or a raccoon curiously peeking in our windows. We can't wait to share everything that our country home has to offer with your child: low crime, fresh air, plenty of room to run and play, enough space for a horse, and best of all an unforgettable experience of living on a family farm.

When we want or need anything, we are just a twenty minute drive from a town that is fully equipped with a hospital, a YMCA, a movie theater, and a shopping mall. The local school where Sarah teaches is accredited with distinction in performance, one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a Missouri school. The school also boasts one of the best music programs in the state along with various award-winning sports teams to choose from. Situated within short driving distance of a major tourist attraction, we are truly thankful to live in an area that allows us the best that the country and city have to offer.
