Todd & Heather

Our Extended Families

Heather’s Mom, Sister and Family

We are both from the same hometown about four hours away from where we live now. Amazingly, we met here and never knew each other there. Most of our family lives "back home." Heather’s sister lives in our current town with her husband and children, and her father and stepmother live in California. Both of our moms are back home and so are Todd's sister and her husband and children. (Todd’s father passed away in 2003.) We get lots of visits from each of our moms as well as Todd's sister and family and Heather's dad and stepmom every year! We really look forward to all the visits. We get back to our hometown at least 4 times a year (but the Grandmas may demand more when there's a baby involved) and we always have a blast catching up with everyone. Todd has over 50 first cousins who all have kids and many of them have kids now, too, so there are cousins, many that are like siblings to him, galore!

Todd’s Mom, Sister and Family

Todd actually works with our brother-in-law here in town and we spend a lot of time with Heather's sister and family. We spend most every Saturday watching our niece and nephews play football, soccer, baseball, and/or basketball (and we love every minute of it)!

Our whole family has offered tremendous support and encouragement (and pictures or letters of recommendation, etc.) as we've traveled down this path to adoption and ultimately parenthood! All of our family and friends anxiously await a baby at Heather and Todd's to play with and love!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

When we got married, we bought a house in a really nice suburb. When we picked it, we definitely had family in mind. We wanted 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, a nice basement, a big front porch, an attractive yard, and a large brick fireplace, and we got it!

Our Home at Christmas Time

We're three houses up from a park with two playgrounds, a walking/ biking trail, and soccer and baseball fields. The elementary school is six blocks away and the school district is excellent. The neighborhood is very safe and full of friendly children and adults. One of the reasons we fell in love with it was the way people were outside and waving at us when we were house hunting and driving by. We are also very close to our spectacular church, lots of shopping, the zoo, amusement parks, water parks, museums, lakes, libraries, outdoor ice skating, indoor and outdoor theaters, racetracks, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, wildlife parks, sports stadiums, and much more!

Heather loves decorating the house and giving it a chic and homey feel. Todd takes meticulous care of the lawn (and cars). We've already put on new siding, a new roof, planted a little garden in back, and taken down the awful wallpaper that came with our house, and we have many plans to continue to upgrade and improve our home throughout our lives, but we really can't imagine a better place to grow up! Our home is a warm and caring environment that promotes happiness, achievement, integrity, and self-esteem.
