Christina: I have two wonderful parents who have been married for 37 years and still in love. I have an older sister Stacey, and a younger sister, Maggie. Stacey has three boys. Maggie just recently graduated from Ohio State University with an engineering degree. We all enjoy getting together for the holidays and whenever we can. We have a lot of boys in the family so you can imagine the fun times that happen when we all gather together. We enjoy making candies and other desserts for the holidays. My mom makes the best cheesecake ever! My family is supportive of our decision to adopt. They cannot wait to welcome another person into the family.
Our Wedding Day with Nashied’s Mom and Christina’s Parents
Nashied: I have one sister Taheerah, who lives in Chicago with my nephew Tim who will be going off to college shortly. I have two brothers. Ameer, my older brother, is making a career out of the Air Force. I also have a younger brother Shareef, who lives nearby. He has a daughter, Chineerah who is almost eight. My mother also lives nearby with my stepfather John: along with aunts and uncles and my Grandma. We don't get together as often as we would like, but when we do we have cookouts and have a lot of fun.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We purchased our home new in July of 2005 in Tennessee. We live in an older quiet neighborhood where new houses are starting to be built amongst the older homes. We are on a corner lot with a large backyard for kids to run and play. We have a large family room with vaulted ceilings. We also have a sitting room. The master bedroom and bath are on the first floor. There are two bedrooms upstairs, along with a bathroom. We have a half bath downstairs.
The Park We Take Our Boys to
We are a couple blocks from the elementary school, which is a very good school. We live about ten minutes from a nice greenway that runs along the river where we walk our dog with our boys. The YMCA is also only ten minutes away. We are minutes away from shopping but still maintain a country like feel. We have quite a few children in the neighborhood to play with. We are still learning about our neighborhood everyday. We are close to two libraries where we spend a good amount of time. Our house is not the largest and maybe not the most extravagant, but it is large enough for our family and then some. We try to make it as comfortable for our family as possible. We can honestly say our house is not just a house it is our HOME.
