Ron is the oldest of four children and grew up in Oklahoma. His mother still resides there, as does his three married siblings and their nine children. His stepfather recently passed away. His mom works as a manager for a hotel and raises a handful of animals on her farm. Although separated by the distance, he keeps close contact with his distant family regularly via telephone and e-mail. Ron recently reunited with his birthfather and his six half siblings. He maintains a good relationship with them and visits them periodically.
Ron has many other extended family members nearby including his very special aunt and uncle also known as Nana and Pop-pop. They are very close and gather frequently for special occasions or just to hang out and enjoy each others company. Ron's other aunt and her family are missionaries in the Philippines. Every few years they return home for a visit and a huge family reunion is planned. It is a great time for everyone to catch up and tell stories about each others families and create memories by taking lots of photographs.
Dawn with Her Family
Dawn is the oldest of four children and was raised by her mom and step dad who live just minutes away. Two of her siblings are married and have 5 children between them. They also live in close proximity. Her youngest brother, still enjoying the single life, teaches English to young students in South Korea.
Dawn's mom is a semi retired school bus driver and her dad is a security guard. Both her parents and step parents have always played an active role in her life growing up. They have never missed a birthday or any special event that she was involved in. She feels very fortunate to have had two sets of loving parents. A few years ago, Dawn’s dad moved in with Ron & Dawn. They are very blessed to experience the wonderful caring relationship he provides as a father and grandfather.
Dawn's family gets together just about every weekend during the summer at their family shore home on Long Beach Island. It is a relaxed home full of love, laughter and lots of food. They enjoy many family activities together like the beach, arcade, playing board games, bicycle rides as well as fishing and tubing on her brother's boat.
The heart of a happy home is a loving family. Both Ron and Dawn's parents and extended families have been very supportive of their decision to adopt another child and are joyfully waiting to welcome your child into the family to be loved and cherished.
Our House and Neighborhood
Home Sweet Home
We live in a comfortable 2 story Dutch Colonial in the suburbs of Southern New Jersey. There are 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, dining room, living room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. Our deck is a popular place for our cat Pongo to ponder and catch some sun. We have a swing set with 2 forts in our back yard which is fenced in. During the year, we like to roast marshmallows on our outside fire stove with our next door neighbors and their children with whom we've formed a very close bond.
Pongo
People of all ages and ethnical backgrounds live in our family oriented neighborhood. Our schools are culturally diverse as well. Our home sits just around the corner from one of the eight elementary schools in our extensive town of 7200 children. The schools hold a very strong and structured education program as well as a rounded recreation and sports program which offers a very broad range of activities for children.
Holidays are great in our neighborhood. On Halloween, we see over 200 trick-or-treaters at our door. No matter how much candy we buy, we always run out. The Saturday before Christmas, Santa rides through our neighborhood on a fire truck handing out candy canes, an event our daughter anxiously awaits.
A local park at the river sponsors weekend events including movie nights, musical performances, cultural entertainment, boat racing and fireworks. We are within walking distance of three playgrounds and just minutes away from the zoo, aquarium, and sporting venues in the city.
We feel our town is the perfect place to raise our daughter and any child we are privileged to adopt.
