Amy’s family all lives close by. She is the second of 4 girls and her parents have been married for 28 years. Her dad is a builder and her mom is a stay at home mom. Her older sister lives about ten minutes away and is pregnant with their first child. We would love for their child to have a cousin to play with! Her younger sister graduated from college last year and her youngest sister will graduate from high school this year. Amy's grandparents live in town also. One grandmother lives with Amy's parents and the other grandparents live about 15 minutes away. There are also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins around. We usually get together for birthdays, holidays and sometimes just for a good visit.

Jay’s parents also live nearby. They have been married 35 years and are about 20 minutes away. Jay's dad is also a builder and his mom works for the American Red Cross. Jay has a younger sister who lives in Birmingham, AL with her husband, who is a pilot. Jay has several cousins who live in town and also lots of family who
live in south Louisiana. We love to visit them and Jay is the godfather of his cousin's youngest daughter. Jay's dad usually cooks and he makes an awesome gumbo. It's tradition that Jay's mom cooks for Thanksgiving and she makes great dishes that were handed down from her mother.
Our families are always there when we need them. They are very supportive of our decisions, especially the decision to adopt. When we told Amy's mom that we were thinking about adopting, she cried and said she thought that was one of the most wonderful things we could do.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We recently built a house in a great neighborhood on a quiet dead end street overlooking a pond. Amy's dad built our house as he is a professional builder. We were able to be very involved and both worked so hard on the house, as well as recruiting all our family members to help! We painted and laid tile until we never wanted to see paint and tile again! The house is everything we hoped and we cannot wait to raise a family in it. The house is 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths with a dining room and large playroom. The living room has a wood burning fireplace and dark wood floors, and the kitchen is very cozy with brick floors and dark green countertops. The house has a large front porch overlooking the pond and a ½ acre backyard which is in the process of being landscaped.

Our home is in one of the best school districts in our area. Two of the families in our neighborhood go to church with us and we have several neighbors who have young children. In fact one of our neighbors just found out she is pregnant. The pond is perfect for fishing and there are several good parks in the area with playgrounds and nature trails. Our community has a fireworks show over the river for 4th of July, a wonderful children's museum and a children's theatre. Our city also has a large zoo, which also offers several summertime programs for children.
