Chin grew up in Massachusetts and is Asian of Chinese descent. He is close to his family. Chin has a married younger brother, who is an engineer, and has a baby boy. Chin's parents are college professors, who have been married for 40 years. They are an active couple, who enjoy traveling. They love Jason and Thomas! They are delighted to play and take walks with the boys. Chin's mom is a fantastic cook! She is always happy to make us our favorite Chinese meals (better than in any restaurant!). Gatherings of Chin's extended family include great food, good conversation, and watching movies at night. Chin's married cousin recently had her first baby, so the family continues to grow.
With Cathy’s Family
Cathy was raised in New York and is Caucasian of Irish, German, and English descent. Her grandfather was adopted. Cathy's parents are deceased, but she has a wonderful extended family. Cathy's brother is a good uncle, who always remembers the boys on their birthdays and at Christmas with great gifts. Cathy has a cousin who is just like a sister to her. Her cousin is a neurologist, who is married to a neurologist. They have two daughters. They often visit us for long weekends. In the summer, we set up the kiddy pools, sprinkler, and water slide, and the kids have a blast in the backyard "water park." Cathy's aunt and uncle recently hosted a family gathering of 21 people for a week at Christmas, which was so much fun!
The ethnic diversity of our families gives us more holidays to celebrate. Both our families especially enjoy Christmas and Thanksgiving. We also celebrate Chinese New Year with a great dinner and St. Patrick's Day with corned beef and cabbage. Our children share our ethnic diversity: Jason is Asian (Vietnamese and Chinese) and Thomas is Caucasian (Italian and German). We are blessed to have supportive families and friends. Everyone is excited about our plans to adopt again! Our families will warmly welcome your baby as one of their own, as they did with Jason and Thomas.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We love our home. It's a large, comfortable house in Maryland with plenty of room for another child. The center of our home is the kitchen, with an island and dining area. It's open to the family room, which has a TV and stereo system. Nearby are a dining room and a playroom that is filled with toys, books, a play kitchen, and kid-sized table and chairs. A half bathroom is close by. Outside the kitchen is a deck with a grill. Upstairs, we have 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The new baby will have his or her own bedroom. Downstairs, there is a finished basement that is a play space for the kids with ride-on toys, a play house, and open space for running around. There is also a full bathroom and laundry room. We have a big, grassy, fenced-in backyard with a play set and sandbox. There are many young children in the neighborhood.
Jason, Thomas, and Their Cousins in Our Backyard
Our public schools are excellent and rated among the top schools in the nation. Our town is culturally diverse with people of various ethnic backgrounds, which we really like. We have many friends with young children, who we see regularly at playgrounds, barbecues, and parties. We have friends who are waiting to adopt. Jason has friends who were adopted. We live close to a major city, yet our town has farmland. There are cows, horses, and corn fields nearby, which make the area so pretty! Our community offers swimming pools, parks, libraries, theaters, concerts, and a huge selection of children's activities. We love going to the Easter egg hunt, strawberry festivals, 4th of July parade, and Breakfast with Santa. At farms, we pick blueberries and pumpkins, see animals and go on hayrides. The city has a zoo, aquarium, museums, theaters, sports arena, and much more. This area is a wonderful place for children to grow up.
