Our Extended Families

Karl’s Extended Family

Karl’s mother and father are sharing their 50th wedding anniversary this year and live 15 minutes from our home. They are both retired and are very eager to help in any way that they can. Since they live so close, we see them weekly and sometimes more often. Karl's brother Allen also lives close by with his son Allen Jr. Karl's niece, Mandy, recently had her first baby and we are so excited we will be able to share our experiences together.

Cynthia’s Extended Family

Cynthia’s parents have been happily married for 45 years. They are also retired and have two homes in New York and Florida. They are so excited about having their second grandchild and plan to visit often. Cynthia's brother and sister-in-law live in New York with her nephew Asher. We don't see them as much as we would like, but cherish every one of our visits. Cynthia's grandparents, Edith and Herbert, have been married for 67 years and live in New York. We spend every Thanksgiving together with Cynthia's family in New York. Typically the meal is at Aunt Gail and Uncle Barry's house. There are usually over 20 people celebrating the occasion with great food and conversation. These mini-family reunions are looked forward to every year.

Both families are excited about our decision to adopt and can't wait to give lots of love to a child who will be cherished as a gift to us all.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a 3-story home on a quiet street in Virginia several blocks from the ocean. Our spacious house has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large great room consisting of our modern, recently renovated kitchen, dinning room and living room. Our spare bedroom, which is decorated like the beach with a beautiful mural on the walls, will become the nursery. The downstairs bedroom will become the spare bedroom for our family and visiting guests. We have plenty of space for a new addition to our family.

Biking at the Beach

Our neighborhood is a great place to live, both for its people and proximity to schools, the ocean, cultural centers and attractions. We have wonderful neighbors that have young children who all get together and play on a regular basis. We take advantage of being within walking and biking distance from the ocean on a regular basis during the spring, summer and fall. At the beach, there are many annual events including festivals, displays, and concerts. We have a nearby park with wonderful walking trails and a modern playground. There is an aquarium very close to our house that is geared towards family friendly fun and educational opportunities. We are located in close proximity to multiple attractions including amusement parks, water parks, historical sites and a zoo.

We are very fortunate to have an elementary school within walking distance from our house. Our school district is very well rated and funded. This is a great neighborhood to raise a child and we are very much looking forward to having that opportunity.
