Loris Family
Lori is the older of two. She has a brother who is four years younger than she. They were very close growing up and still are. Her brother and sister-in-law have two beautiful boys. Lori's father is retired after a career as a truck driver. Her mother is a retired cosmetologist. They both enjoy traveling, long walks and spending time with their grandkids.
Lori has so many wonderful childhood memories, including annual summer family vacations across the country and exploring new sites and spending weekends with her grandparents. Lori has two wonderful first cousins who are adopted.
Our Parents on Our Big Day
Mike may have a small family but they're very close. Mike is an only child and that is one reason he wants to have a large family. His father is a retired supervisor of a manufacturing plant but recently has returned to work as a security guard for the local power company. His mother is a homemaker and enjoys cooking, corresponding with friends on the computer and traveling.
Mike loves to think back on all the day trips his family took together.
He also remembers fishing and doing other outdoor activities with his dad.
We have a wonderful family! We get together regularly and spend all our holidays together. We are both very close to our parents and talk to them every other day or daily. Both sets of our parents have been married for more than 40 years.
As most grandparents, they enjoy spoiling Alexis and especially love to host evening sleepovers at their house. Their greatest joy is being grandparents, and they are very happy and supportive of our decision to adopt. They are very excited to have a new member of the family and can't wait to become grandparents again!
| Our House and Neighborhood |
Our Home
We live in a wonderful neighborhood, located just outside the center
of town. We love it here because it is so beautiful, safe and close to our families.
We moved into our home three years ago to give us more living space and bedrooms to be able to grow our family. It is a lovely two-story home, with four bedrooms and two- and-a-half baths. Our home is very spacious, with a kitchen, living room, dining room, playroom and family room, which is usually the center of play time. We have a large patio where we host many cookouts and neighborhood get-togethers. We also have a big backyard that borders a high school sports field, which offers plenty of room to play and is the perfect spot for sledding in the winter.
A Playground by Our Home
We live in a tight-knit development that is very family-oriented. Alexis has many friends who live on our street. The neighbors all know one another and look out for each other. We get together regularly to swim, play games or cook out.
Within minutes from our house is our church. We're also minutes away from several parks with soccer fields, jungle gyms and swing sets. They have become frequently visited "hot spots" for us. There are also many local attractions nearby, such as amusement parks, swimming pools, bowling alleys, museums, roller skating rinks, a zoo, walking and bike trails, and other recreational and cultural places that we visit often on weekends.
The schools in our community are among the best in the state. It is a growing school district with new schools being built and new teachers being added. Alexis loves her school, the teachers and the many friends she has made there.
