Peter, Alexander, Fred (Peter’s Dad) and Scott (Peter’s Brother)
Amanda and Peter both grew up in the same small town in Massachusetts. Peter is the youngest son of Kathy and Fred. Peter has one brother Scott who is one year older. Kathy and Fred still live in the same house where Peter grew up. Peter talks with his parents on a weekly basis and they email on a regular basis. His father is a huge sports fan and enjoys watching baseball, hockey, football and basketball. Kathy has a love of children and has a part time job at a daycare facility. Peter talks with his brother on a regular basis as well. Scott enjoys playing softball and also enjoys watching sports. He is married and they live near his parents. Some of the favorite traditions are getting together for a big Thanksgiving dinner and getting together with Peter's great aunts and uncle the night before Christmas. Peter's parents are planning on moving to North Carolina in a few years to be closer to Peter and their grandchildren. They are very supportive of the upcoming adoption.
Peter, Mimi, Alexander and Amanda
Amanda’s parents live in southern Maine. Amanda is the only child of Penny and Jim. Amanda has an extremely close relationship with her parents. Amanda talks with her mother on a daily basis and emails her parents on a regular basis as well. Amanda's parents visit every few months and plan to purchase a winter home in North Carolina when they retire. Some of the favorite holiday traditions are getting up on Thanksgiving morning watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and stuffing dates. Another fun holiday tradition is having children on Dec 5th leave their wish list outside of their door and St. Nicholas comes and gets it and leaves a few treats. When the family gets together they enjoy day trips, going to the ocean, playing games and just being together. Her parent's are very excited about the arrival of another grandchild through adoption.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home
We purchased our house 2 ½ years ago. We moved from Massachusetts to North Carolina. Our house is twelve years old, has three bedrooms, a bonus room and two and a half bathrooms. The house is 2100 square feet. Our house is in a wonderful, family oriented neighborhood. The neighborhood has a park, tennis courts, basketball courts and two pools. There are a number of activities for the kids in the neighborhood throughout the year. In the spring and fall there is soccer at the neighborhood park. In the summer there is an annual pool party and Fourth of July parade as well as swimming and tennis lessons offered. There is a fall Halloween party with a haunted house and a Christmas holiday party every year. We have wonderful neighbors who have become like family to us. They are very supportive and are always willing to help.
Amanda and Peter as Santa at a Neighborhood Holiday Party
Our house is in a wonderful area of North Carolina and there is a new elementary school within walking distance of our neighborhood. Also close by there are stores, malls, restaurants, museums and hospitals. There is a good amount of diversity in the area that we live in, and the community and city offer international festivals and other cultural gatherings and opportunities for learning. The weather in this area is beautiful which allows us to be outside the majority of the year. On the whole we feel like we live in a terrific area and that it would be an ideal place to raise another child.
