Our Extended Families

Before a Home Game, Scott’s Family Toured Busch Stadium & Were Down on the Field for Player Warm-ups

Scott grew up in the suburbs of a large Midwestern city. He is the youngest of 4 brothers. With so many brothers, his house was very active. He developed a love of sports early and did his best to keep up with his older brothers in just about any sport they could think of to play. He understands how much fun childhood can be he really looks forward to teaching a child how to throw a baseball or football. There has always been a connection between sports and family for Scott.

Scott has tremendous love and respect for his mother, who sacrificed so much to provide a loving home for Scott and his brothers. Scott's parents were divorced when he was young and he learned very early to appreciate all the blessings life has given him. Scott has always understood how important a two parent household can be in a child's life. He will ensure that any child brought into the family will grow up in a caring, loving environment.

Jen’s Family-We Love to Celebrate Christmas Together

Jen grew up on a farm in the Midwest with one younger sister. Her childhood was very full! There was always something to do on the farm with the pigs or in the fields. With a huge family, 8 sets of aunts & uncles and 26 cousins, all living in the same small town, we were always playing and working together. Holidays and birthdays are always huge celebrations - as the family has grown, they just get bigger and better. Christmas is especially important -the entire extended family has breakfast on Christmas morning at Jen's grandparents' house. The tradition is to eat a huge breakfast of biscuits, gravy, hash browns, eggs and Grandpa's homemade custard. The kids talk about all the neat gifts from Santa and the adults join in on the fun and then reminisce about what Christmas was like when they were little.

Jen has a special relationship with her parents - they gave her love, support and encouragement that instilled the confidence to make her dreams come true, as long as she was willing to work for it! Much of her outgoing, confident, and happy personality is because of her special family relationships. Jen's parents could not be more excited to meet the child we adopt to love and spoil him/her as only grandparents can - they seem to have limitless energy and love to become kids again with all of Jen's cousins' children! Her parents still live on the farm about 60 miles from Jen & Scott - living so close, it is fun to visit and "play" on the farm together! One of our favorite farm memories was the day Jen taught Scott how to drive the tractor. Now he can "play" with Jen's dad on the "big toys".

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

In 2003, we moved into our first home together - we are so excited and fortunate to own such a wonderful home! It is a spacious 3 bedroom ranch in an awesome neighborhood. The kitchen is the heart of our home - Jen loves to cook and Scott loves to eat, so it works out nicely for both of us. Over the past two years, we have finished the basement and added a game and TV room and two additional bedrooms. Scott would probably tell you the air hockey table in the game room runs a close second to the kitchen as the best place in the house. With so much space and fun things for everyone to do, we love to host parties and gatherings to share what we have with our family and friends. We have always planned our home with the dream of filling it with a family.

Neighborhood Cinco de Mayo Celebration Complete with Parade, Firetruck and Bicycle Decorating Contest

While we are a little biased, we think we live in the best neighborhood anywhere! On any given afternoon, there are lots of kids playing together in a variety of yards - our neighborhood is full of families with children and there will be no shortage of playmates for the child. The neighborhood parents typically sit in lawn chairs nearby to watch the little ones play and talk about whatever. We can't imagine having more friendly, dependable neighbors and love hosting parties and events that get us all together. For New Year's Eve, we all gathered in our house to celebrate the New Year and play trivia. For Cinco de Mayo, the neighborhood hosted a parade complete with floats, a fire truck, and contest for the best decorated bicycle. We feel so blessed to have built our home in such a wonderful place!
