Our Extended Families

Allison’s Extended Family

Both of us come from close-knit, down-to-earth families who live nearby.

Allison’s parents and brother's family live in the hometown where she grew up, which is less than two hours from our home. We make sure to see each other at least once a month, but it's usually more often. Allison's parents are young-at-heart, so you'll find them running in the yard with their grandchildren or going down the slide at the park. We think it's their love of children that keep them feeling young! Allison is only one year younger than her brother, who was adopted at 1 month old. They grew up as each other's playmates and friends, knowing that adoption played a special role in bringing them together as brother and sister.

Mike’s Extended Family

Mike’s parents live a quick ten minute drive from our home. Their house is nestled on a beautiful lake with a beach, boat, and colorful sunsets. Mike's parents love to have family over for barbequing, games and fun. In winter months, we spend hours playing card games or Cranium with Mike's many cousins. There is always lots of laughter in their home. One of our favorite traditions is singing carols on Christmas Eve with the family, then going to Midnight Mass. Mike's older brother's family and younger sister also live within an hour drive and are very important to us.

Together, our parents have been married a combined 78 years! We are lucky to have such wonderful examples for a loving, long-lasting marriage. Both of our families would welcome your child with open arms and hearts, knowing that this baby came to us through love and selflessness.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our home is full of love and fun and is ready to welcome a new baby. We live in a four-bedroom, two-story home on a quiet, tree-lined street with a park just around the corner. We have an open floor plan with a spacious kitchen and family room that includes a wood-burning fireplace. It is a home meant for children. Most of our neighbors have young children who are eager to play tag, hide and seek, or play on the swing set in our backyard. We love to spend evenings grilling outside on our large patio, playing bean bag toss, going for walks and talking with neighbors. In the winter, there's usually a snowman in our yard and lots of sled tracks.

Our Backyard

We live in a family-friendly, suburban community with a wonderful park district offering fun classes and parks for discovery. The schools in our community are top-notch, offering strong academics, sports and music. Our town is built around a beautiful lake with several beaches for swimming, picnics and playing. On warm summer nights, there are free concerts and summer festivals. For us, the "heart" of our community is our Catholic church, from which we receive so much support and inspiration. The families come from all different backgrounds, but we all come together in our faith. We want you to know that your child would live in a happy home, surrounded by love and support.
