We love our house! We bought it a couple years after getting married and truly feel that it is our “forever home.” We live in a 1904 vintage farmhouse complete with an acre of land. There is so much to do outside including playing basketball and riding bikes on our circular driveway, playing on our play-set, and hanging out with our three backyard chickens.
The city we live in a close-knit community with a small town feel. Together, we enjoy many annual events: a Christmas parade, an Easter Egg Hunt, concerts at our City Center, movies in the park, a Fourth of July Festival, as well as a citywide Halloween party. Within walking distance from our house, we have two great parks: one local park has a 9,000 square foot, all- inclusive playground along with a nature park that offers fishing, hiking trails, and sledding hills.
The outstanding elementary school that children in our neighborhood attend is within walking distance from our house. Our school district has excellent teachers, and both secondary schools in the district have been recognized year after year among the most challenging and top rated high schools in the state and nation. We couldn’t ask for better schools for our children to have the opportunity to learn at!
Nichole is the youngest of 5 children. She grew up with a big sister and 3 older brothers, so having a larger family of her own has always been a dream. Her family time growing up was centered in the heart of the home, the kitchen, where her mom would always make delicious meals with everyone around the table for lots of “kitchen-talk." Her father worked as an engineer and her mother ran her own beauty shop business in the house. Nichole’s family is enthusiastic and very supportive that we are growing our family through adoption.
Brian is the oldest of 3 children, and grew up with 2 younger brothers. The strong, loving relationship that he has with them both along with his parents is incredible. Christmas Eve with Brian’s family is a very special time because that is the evening that Santa comes. On this night, homemade cookies are baked with Grandma, and the little children in the family get to surprise Santa with some home-made goodies as well as letters that they hand-write to him. Brian’s family is passionate about making memories with each other and building relationships, and they are thrilled about our adoption plans.
