We just purchased our first house. For the first 10 years that we were married we lived in an apartment, but we decided it was time to buy a house in preparation for the new member of our family.
Our new house is a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house on the outskirts of a city in Nebraska. It is located on a circle, so there is very little traffic directly near the house. The circle has six other houses on it, and the neighbors are all very friendly and look out for each other; many of them also have children.
Our home has a beautiful deck in the back, perfect for watching fireworks on the Fourth of July! It also has a finished basement where we plan to play board games, card games, video games, and ping-pong together. Lucy has turned one of the rooms in our house into a library for our large collection of books. We love sitting together and reading, and we look forward to sharing our passion for learning with our child.
The neighborhood is very friendly and well-kept. It is nice to stroll down the sidewalks in the evening, and there is a park within walking distance. We are in a good school district, and the elementary school is also within walking distance.
We both have wonderful and supportive families. Casey is the middle child of three boys, and Lucy is an only child.
Casey’s family only lives a couple of hours away, and we usually spend two or three days at Thanksgiving and Christmas with them as well as some weekend visits throughout the year. There’s always delicious food, good conversation, and lots of fun when we spend time with them. Casey’s older brother and his wife recently had their first child, so much of our visits are spent entertaining and being entertained by our new nephew! Casey’s family enjoys playing ping-pong and other games, like backyard bean bag toss.
Lucy’s parents live only about an hour away, so we are able to see them often. They also have a ping pong table at their home, which Lucy’s dad and Casey especially enjoy playing. We also all enjoy board games and movies together, as well as just sitting and talking or all of us taking a walk with their Beagle, Sweetie.
Everyone in our families is excited about our plans and looking forward to welcoming a new child into the family. This child will have not only loving parents, but loving grandparents, uncles, an aunt, and a cousin!
