Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home

We live in a beautiful home in Arkansas with our two puppies and our one year old daughter, Katherine. Our house is located on a quiet street surrounded by an acre of land. We have a huge fenced in backyard for children and the puppies to play and explore. The perfect yard for running and throwing around a ball to play catch. Inside the house we have a huge open area for playing and a large bedroom for this child. We also have terrific neighbors, we are always having dinner outside together, shoveling each other’s walk ways when it snows, and saying hello when we are on our evening walks.

In our neighborhood there are a lot of activities to choose from: swimming pools, playgrounds, soccer, baseball, softball, football fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, golf courses and lakes. The schools in our neighborhood are outstanding and host several sports leagues in which a child could participate. Katherine has already begun swim lessons in our community. She loves getting in the pool with us and splashing around. It is so amazing to see how much she loves the water, it comes very naturally to her as her birth mom was a great swimmer too.

Our Extended Families
At the Beach with Family

Amanda has a younger brother and has a large extended family with whom she is very close. The majority of her extended family lives within a three hour drive from each other and they get together a few times a month. When the family gets together there is always a good card game, great food and tons of laughter. Amanda grew up spending time regularly with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and provides those same opportunities for her adopted daughter, Katherine, she loves seeing all her family. Amanda believes that having a large extended family close by is very important.

Brian comes from a large family where he is the oldest of six children. Brian’s family is close in age, making everyone very close with one another. They have all settled around the east coast, living as far North as New York and as far South as Georgia, one sibling recently moving to Paris, France. Brian’s family gets together around the holidays at which time they all gather around the kitchen table to play marathon Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit games. When together they like to cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers, they all love dressing Katherine in Steelers gear and seeing her cheer on the family team. Even though we only see each other a few times a year, we stay in contact throughout the year via phone calls and text messages.

Katherine, our daughter, is very connected to her extended family, seeing everyone as often as possible and using FaceTime to bridge those gaps in seeing each other in person. Her birth has really brought the family closer together. Everyone is excited about the possibility of Katherine having a sibling. Katherine is the only grandchild on both sides of the family.
